I have a rather odd question. I leased my first ever Bronco last week - a 2026 Big Bend Sasquatch in Shadow Black.

Shadow Black is cool and all...but it's not the color I wanted. I was hoping for a fun color and fell in love with Orange Fury Metallic when it was announced, but Ford quickly axed the color before it even made it to production lines. So after spending FAR too much time anguishing over which exact shade of Grey I liked most, I said "screw it", purchased Shadow Black and decided I would just wrap the damn thing Orange!

Anyway, after picking up the truck, I discovered one of the gas struts that holds up the rear glass on the hard had fallen off and was dangling. Turns out, that entire thing is one piece and the whole glass needs to get replaced. Dealership said they would have to order it and it would take a bit to come in and get installed. They're saying I could probably come and bring it in to get fixed on Tuesday, July 7th.

The dilemma I have now is that I was hoping to wrap the car over the holiday weekend, as that's when I'd have a solid few days to focus and tackle the job. If I were to do that, it would mean the once black car would return to the dealership a bright shade of orange. Not only that, but since I'm attempting this myself in my garage, there's a chance I may not even finish over the weekend and will have to bring it to the dealership with some panels orange and other still black.

On the other hand, if I wait until after it gets serviced, I likely wont be able to get to the wrap until mid- to late-July and I'd likely have to work on it over the course of a couple of weekends.

I may be overthinking this, but my concern is that the dealership will make note of the color change, and use that against me in the future if I ever need to use my warranty again. I can't imagine there would be many situations in which a wrap would void a warranty, but we all know how dealerships can be.

So what does everyone think? Should I suck it up and wait it out? Or should I send it and wrap the car before bringing it in to get the glass fixed?

The dealer goes by VIN, not color. Ford makes the final decisions about warrany coverage, not the dealer. Modifications don't affect warrany unless the modification could affect the situation under discussion. For example wheel spacers might cause a claim for failed wheel bearings to be denied.

Your wrap could affect a claim for paint problems but would have nothing to do with the door hinges.

There's 0% chance you will get denied a warranty claim due to a wrap/color change. Excepting, of course, anything that you touch or affect while doing the wrap (paint, exterior trim, etc.) which would be fair game to deny in certain circumstances, IMO.

Your VIN is all that matters.

It's also not like a wrap is going to be subtle. If, for some reason, they even give half a shit that it's orange now instead of black, they'll trivially be able to see that it's a vinyl wrap and there will be no further confusion.
