It just helps drop the window sooner before opening the door. Lots of people have problems with the window not dropping fast enough and catching on the upper seal.
With my '22 I don't have the early drop when unlocked. I haven't had any issues (knock on wood). But I do try to minimize the stress on the seals, just seems prudent.

In bad weather I pull the handle somewhat slowly and deliberately to give the window a chance to drop before fully opening the door.

In good weather I'll do the press unlock then press and hold to open the windows (fully) before getting in the Bronco. And when leaving, I'll just leave the windows open, then press lock then press and hold to roll up the windows as I walk away, but that requires some aftermarket settings changes. Neither operation is too much bother because I have a lower trim level that requires me to use the key anyway.

In good weather why not leave the car with your driver side window slightly open.

I've done that too, at times, if I'm not going to be somewhere very long.

I tried looking through all nine pages and started spacing out, I believe I saw someone else had thier windows messed up after the update, they were perfectly fine before!!! I didn’t notice that it failed to short drop the other day until I shut it and it ended up outside the gasket 🤦🏼‍♀️ it also won’t one touch up/down on that one window anymore, and the fob no longer short drops all the windows when I press unlock. Anyone know how to undo the update? Guess I’ll be unchecking the automatic updates!!!

It's not possible unfortunately.
The one touch up/down can be fixed by doing the window calibration, but it will never short drop using the fob or the interior lock switch anymore.

Thanks, is that the hold for five extra seconds after putting the window up and down thing?

You've manually adjusted the windows a few times? Following the procedure attached below?
Can you or someone clarify on adjusting the tip of the window. I think this is what needs adjusting. I'll admit im not the best at following these technical instructions either but from what I gather its just saying:

"Add more or less tip and or out as needed. The neutral state would put the studs about 60% of the way to the outboard side of the door in the adjustment slots.

Adjust the front door window regulator rails to achieve more or less tip in at the top of the front door window glass.

1. Adjust the front and rear regulator rails equally in and out to avoid binding and tighten the lower front door"

Or is it adjusting just to preference and a trial and error process?

Yeah same thing.
Some older models have it, some don't, some had it and then it was removed... it's a mess lol
If you currently have it, and you like the feature, I would highly suggest that you never update your DDM or PDM because it will likely take it away.
I apparently have missed all this since I've been visiting less. But I did see today that I had both door module updates available. Stupidly I thought that it would be an improvement. Thank you for pointing this out before I ran the updates. I like the drop on unlock feature a lot.

So I pulled my 2024 Heritage out of storage, and got this...
1000017936.jpg

Of course, my '24 already dropped the windows with the keyfob, but this seems like something else.
"One touch up" Refines the feature for smoother operation?
I didn't know there was an issue with this before. Worked perfectly fine! What about 1 touch down? That didn't need any refinement? Lol
Is Ford just trying to keep people at work, or...? 🤷🏻
Is there another thread on this maybe 🤷🏻
Sorry to derail this conversation but
Is that a DUCK???!!!!
Lol

I have to do this EVERY time I use the fob to global drop the windows. It just loses the calibration for the passenger rear window every time the fob is used.
