Will Ford Delete the Base 2.3L engine option?

So Ford just announced they are dropping the 3.3L v6 base engine in the F150 to be replaced by the 2.7L twin turbo v6. It would appear to me they are trying to streamline production by reducing options (they certainly have done this to the 2024 Bronco).

Do you guys think that for the next year the Bronco, raptor aside, will only have a single engine option standard?

I wanted to get a Big Bend but it's only offered in 2.3L. Perhaps its just wishful thinking that they will offer it in a 2.7L again.

Of course Ford will likely jack up MSRP even more like they did with the 2024 F150. Is it just me or does Ford think that it's still the summer of 2022 and interest rates are still near zero percent...

Every engine eventually gets replaced, but if the 2.3 gets replaced soon it'll likely be by the revised 2.3 going in the new base Mustang.

Personally I would not buy a Bronco w 2.7L

The F-150 already had the 2.7L. All they did was cut out the weakest link that was trying to motivate that fat pig.

I dunno what 2.3 you got but the autos I drove were embarrassing especially with a SAS package. Just my opinion though

Some version of the 2.3 liter will be with the Bronco for a while. It’s shared with the Ranger. Ranger XL trim can only be ordered with the 2.3 liter. Same story as the Bronco Big Bend trim.

I also agree I have a 2.3 Bronco on 37s feels great doesn’t feel sluggish at all and in my opinion I feel it will be the more reliable option. And if you are looking for more power get the ford performance calibration

I ordered my Heritage with the 2.3 because having the cam phasers replaced in a 2.7 at 35k miles isnt fun.

I agree. Test drove a 2.3L auto w/ sas and it was just OK. Anyone saying you aren’t missing anything off the 2.7L is kidding themselves.

Ooh what is that? A N/A V8? With 395 hp? Go back a couple years and all those people telling me that the TT 2.7 got better numbers than the V8.... hmmmm....

Now how about to answer OP's question, we just replace the 2.3 with this engine? Minus the $25k that Ford would add to the cost.

The 2.3 seemed fine to me for just basic daily driving especially if its highway driving. My 2.7 gives me all the torques when I want it though. One thing I will say about 2.3 and a lot of people might not like it but the 2.3/manual combo is trash. I've driven tractors with better shifters.

The 2.3 (or some 4cyl variation) will stick around for the Bronco/Ranger/Mustang. I could see the Bronco and Ranger going to 4cyl and 4cyl hybrid as the only engine options, completely dropping the V6

I am so glad I got my Sas base with 2.7 when I did my reservation- and for a basement bargain price (even though it really cost me a lot of my savings). That combo is long gone. It's my last 4 X 4 and will need to last me until I'm done. I retire in 2 years and not really driving it much until I retire. I hope it lasts. I'll never be able to afford another one.
