I tore up my drivers side CV Axle today. (long story for another day)

The part number on the shaft on my bronco reads: MB3W-3A428-AC

No google searches turn up this exact part number, but I found these on steeda.com

Ford Bronco Why the different part numbers? 1702437133677

Is this the same shaft, just a different part number?

I've got a 2023 Wildtraks SAS.

There are two parts numbers:

- Engineering Part Number
- Service Part Number

The engineering part number is usually the number listed on the part itself. As the name suggests, it is used by the engineering teams internally at Ford to track everything. Not all parts created by engineering will make it onto production vehicles.

Then there is the service part number. The service part number is the number assigned to the part once a kit has been made available for service departments. When you buy a part online or at the parts counter, you need to reference the service part number.

Usually there is a 1:1 relationship between an engineering part and a service part. But sometimes service parts come in an installation kit comprised of several different parts, each of which has their own engineering part number.

Ford’s internal parts system has a database you can use to cross-reference the engineering part number with the service part number. So if you are a dealer tech working on a vehicle, you can ensure you are ordering the correct part.
