Why do we hate Auto Start/Stop so much?

Nope, they just idle on the job site... a lot. But like I said R&D scrapped the idea due to wear issues.

that's why hybrid electric was introduced.

just totally shut down the motor for extended amounts of time.

caterpillar decided it was easier to do that than electrify the necessary parts of the lubrication system to support lots of momentary on/off

Been talking about ice caps melting and stuff since I was a kid, no one talks about the hole in the Ozone layer since the 90s and what about acid rain.

We do have carbon dioxide scrubbers that are very efficient and produce a marvelous substance called wood. These scrubbers are called trees, however there are those that would like to cut them down to install giant pinwheels that kill birds that eat insects, or solar panels that absorb infrared and create more heat. 4/1000's of a percent of CO2 or 5/1000's of a percent is not going to put a dent in temperatures. 2 to 3/1000's of a percent and plants have trouble performing photosynthesis. CO2 is the gas of life, without it plants and life on earth are not possible. The biggest driver of global temperatures is that big bright yellow orb in the sky that produces about 1,350 Watts per square meter at it's peak.

Believe what you want, but the uncomfortable truth is simple, there are those that want to take more and limit freedom of movement.

Want to prevent global warming, and do your part? Remove the top and turn the air on high, enjoy the sun and take your kids for a ride.

Don't forget the Windmills have to be buried, and create Ultra-sound that messes us up. Heard a story ages ago about a couple on a farm near a windmill, their dog died suddenly and the vet confirmed the organs shrunk. Solar panels also have toxic chemicals and modern windmills use oil

You really wanna be green and efficient? Get a pre-2000s car that weighed nothing and could achieve 40-50mpg without cvt's and hybrid technology, daily that and actually make a difference.

Thinking you're making a difference because the car stalls out by design at the light and eats up reaction time when it restarts is just asinine

While this was true of turbo's of the past, it is not true for the EB. The EB uses liquid/oil cooled turbos that do not require a turbo timer or idle for 30 seconds to get the turbo's cooled down. If you want more information on this subject the try this Garrett website on liquid cooled turbos.

too bad you don't realize the truthi also asked service manager at my porsche dealer about ASS, I specifically asked if the starters have been updated or made more reliable and if the ring gear in the transmission was submerged in oil. His answer was nope they haven't made any changes to any of it and all they do is replace a whole lot more starters on Porsches now. I suggest you call a few mechanics and service centers and find out this information for yourself and then maybe you'll be a believer

I've thought about this. Would it be accurate to say that it, in fact, reduces the life of your engine (e.g., starter, spark plugs, etc.) or has Ford and others designed these engines to sustain longevity.

I think about the Toyota Prius or any other hybrid. It basically does the same thing. We have owner a Prius for over a decade and it has been rock solid.

The point was it was no longer required to idle and cool down the turbos since this is mitigated in the system design.

I knew whathca meant. It's no longer the 80s and 90s, and even if you drive hard, unless you're tracking it, no need for a daily driver

Here’s the ultimate word on Auto Stop/Start: if you hate it, pay for a defeat device and consider that money well spent. You got a beefed-up starter that will never die out of the deal, so it should still be a win in your mind.

P.S. For those wondering why it doesn’t default to off or why it doesn’t stay off after you turn off the engine, it’s because Ford can’t claim the increase in fuel economy toward their CAFE requirements unless it defaults to on as delivered.

i was in a line of vehicles waiting to exit a parking deck and every time the line would inch forward my Bronco died. A fellow walking past ask if I was having engine trouble. It's a stupid feature with very little pros and just irritating.

That’s not how it works unless you were moving for a long time between stops. The Bronco will not stop right after a restart until the alternator has charged the battery to a minimum level. Put the battery voltage gauge on your dash and watch.

There is NO beefed up starter involved...same wimpy design as before ASS.

I agree this is to church-up the MPG ratings for EPA purposes and to promote the "eco" name...
some folks can't read between the lines I guess.
