Whirring, Drive Train Noise

Damnit I think I have this noise now, after only 1800 miles.

Does it sound like propeller noise that speeds up/slows down depending on your speed?

Yes, that describes it very well. Do you have the advanced 4WD? If so it is easy to listen to and demonstrate the noise. Just jack up the front end and rotate one front tire and you will hear the noise from the driveshaft loud and clear. The non advanced systems do not have this noise as the front driveshaft does not turn when the vehicle is in 2WD.

Very sorry for the delay. Here is what the paperwork says they ended up installing:

x1 Drive Shaft Assy - MB3Z 4A376 U
x2 Nut - W520214 S440
x4 Bolt - W717376 S439B
x6 Bolt - JB3Z 4B496 B

Mine was like a ticking sound at low speeds, with a few ticks per revolution. I did not hear it at above 20 or so.

That's exactly what mine sounds like now. Just started (or I'm just noticing) at around 7500 miles. Advanced 4WD. Not cool.

I massaged the boot and the sound appears to have disappeared for now.

We'll see how long that lasts.
