Upgrading Tires and I Need Sound Mechanical Input.

I received my BB this week and I have a set of 285/70/17's sitting at my local shop but after setting them next to the stock tires I have two reservations I hope you all can help with. First, am I risking any issues with early suspension wear/tear by going with that size tire? Will the 3rd brake light will have to be moved up or the rubber spacers changed out to fit the tire...all the other threads I have seen while researching do not mention anything about having to modify where the spare is attached. I know that MPG and the speedometer will be impacted but I worry about mechanical parts and safety being impacted. Would 275/70/17 be a better option? Thank you in advance.

Basically you'll be going up 2" in diameter w/ the 285s which shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you. That was very helpful and I sent that info onto my tire shop. The last thing I am struggling to figure out is if there is anything needed for the spare to sit as it should/does already. I found one guy saying to raise it up and secure it by just two screws but I would rather purchase the RC extender so its not bouncing around.

This I am not 100% sure of...I believe the carrier itself and bump stops are fine but you'll most likely need to extend the 3rd brake light. As far as I know most people installing the spare relocation kit are going from 35s to 37s

Bump stops...thats what they are called!?! I have been trying to figure out their name and just called them rubber spacers, lol. I wish I had looked closer to the Sasquatch that was at my dealer and seen if there were differences in the spare tire area. I know of the 3rd brake extender and will probably grab that if I go with 285's. Thank you for the help.
