I assume you are removing the struts from the vehicle? Personally, I would save the money on the tool and find a local shop that was properly equipped to do it with one of those HD wall mounted compressors.

This is what I was thinking of doing. The only down side is it's more time consuming. One might be able to line up a time with the shop to make sure you can get them in and out.

I thought I read somewhere about using a ratchet strap on the spring as a backup if the compressor fails.

I'm alive. Actually, this is a good, easy to use and dare i say safe compressor. I mean, other than a wall mounted professional shop spring compressor, this Harbor Freight compressor has to be the best option over all other retail and rental compressors, unless there's another design out there. My local shop wanted to charge me $50 to compress and adjust each strut, not to mention driving there, driving back yada yada

Made in Taiwan, so there's that to consider.

In the end it got the job done without fuss or issue.

I've got a version of this and cannot count the number of uses between Bronco's, F-150's, Tacos, etc etc and it's been rock solid for me. Just putting it out there as another price-competitive option.
