Sometimes the replacement tops are worse than the one you’re replacing. I’m on my 4th top.

Mine 23 BD is cracking in the same spots. Still have 2 years left on warranty so I’m going to wait until closer to warranty expiration have mine replaced, unless it becomes an issue with water leaking or window not functioning correctly
Do not wait. Your logic is based on the assumption that the repair will be flawless. Even if the new top is perfect, the dealer techs could make a mistake during handling or installation.

My early ‘23 4 door has had no problems. My later ‘23 2 door is getting the top replaced in the next week or so. It’s a crap shoot with these things.
The 2-door and 4-door tops only share the front panels, correct? The rear portion that is typically reported to be cracking is unique?

Not going to wait until right before warranty. I have 2 years left. Going to at least wait through this winter

I bought a factory hardtop to replace my soft top earlier this year. Just over 10k miles have gone by. No problems so far. But as I read these threads, I can’t help but be a bit nervous. Been wondering, is there any correlation between cracking and the number of times a top gets taken on and off? Or does added weight from roof racks, rooftop tents or rotopax hanging on the sides play into the failure rate?

My understanding is that most cracking occurs around the rear windows in the rear portion. People have reported rippling on top and cracking too.

No rhyme or reason with use. Taking top on/off, roof rack / no roof rack / off-roading / onroading only. It’s a design flaw.

This. First replacement was damaged. Window was broken when installing in second. Been over 2 months of waiting.

Hey, Ford - if you're listening, take note.

Until I can order a ragtop 2-door (that opens in the rear like a Jeep, not a kitchen garbage can, I might add) with no MIC hardtop anywhere in the equation, I'm not buying.

Oh, and cloth seats too.

Well when I opened my hatch this morning my defroster wire/clip was dangling and no longer attached to the rear glass. Scheduled an appointment at the dealer for monday and going to have them start the process of evaluating my top the cracks/delamination.

I dont think so. I have been driving normal, no major bumps etc etc. I think it is just normal wear and tear of turning corners and maybe stress by flexing? Yeah sounds crazy but ???

At the end of the day, it’s simple……the outer layer of plastic is just too thin.

Have not had my top off ..... yet. Over this past winter I started noticing a few small cracks by the front of the cap by the corners of the window. Over the summer I found these.

Easier to see in person. Hard to capture in a pic. Time to make a visit to the dealer.
