TPMS Replacements

I'm sure the info I seek is in here somewhere but I can't seem to find it in one place so I'll start a thread.
I want to buy a second set of Badlands wheels for my 25 model, there seems to be plenty of them out there but most are missing the sensors. I can find Ford replacements reasonably priced but I'm not sure what I need to do to program them. I see aftermarket kits that come with a programming tool available cheap but I don't know if I can trust them, I don't want to buy something that I'll need to tinker with, I want it to be a one and done installation. Can I get some recommendations?

Just make sure you buy the correct part number. 2025 is different then 21-24. You shouldn't need a programming tool.

Buy the Ford Racing kit it's reasonable price and comes with programmer in case they don't auto learn when driving .....I've never had to use a programmer.

Aftermarket is full of counterfeits etc and long term durability is highly questionable I stopped buying after one failed after 18 mths

Yes, the sensors would need to be swapped out for 25+ sensors.

More questions, does the Ford kit come with 4, or 5, sensors? And does my Bronco spare have a sensor inside it, if not and I install one will it work if I install the spare?

Yes, all spare tires have a sensor from the factory

I bought a set of 2024 Black Diamond wheels to put on my 2025 Base Model. I bought 4 of these sensors (I don't do a 5 wheel rotation) and they did not require any programming. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1873771143...86&osub=-1~1&crd=20251016090558&segname=11401

I have two tires with slow leaks, about 8-10 pounds per week. Annoying, but at least my Costco has free air pumps, no coin-op. The leak showed up on my 2022 OEM 35" Goodyears (4-Dr Badlands/SAS), which gave me otherwise very good service for 53,000 mostly pavement miles (4/32 tread left), before I swapped them out for KO2s (Got a great deal on them). Now I'm still seeing that slow leak. BTW, I had a tire guy spray the Goodyears with a soapy solution, found nothing; but I didn't think to have him spray the valve stem.

So my guess is the culprit is the TPMSs. Any thoughts?

At 3 years and 55K miles now, would Ford cover this? I do have an extended warranty.

Whenever you put new tires on, you should change the valve stems too...the old ones were exposed to as much of the elements as the tires themselves and will deteriorate also....stems are cheap enough, even the TPMS style ones....

I thought the valve stem is an integrated part of the larger TPMS apparatus. It's separate? Can I jjust get one at Autozone, or is it better to buy from a Ford parts counter?

I bought my most recent stems for my snows on my 2025 Maverick from NAPA (bought a set of Maverick steelies off a 2022 from a private sale) - their Echlin line is good quality but I am sure you can get decent stems from Autozone or right from FoMoCo...

The TPMS sensor fits on the bottom of the brass tip and the supplied screw will hold it in place.

You can also change out the center stem core from the valve, they can leak over time if some type of debris or corrosion gets in there. You can do that with the tire still on the car (you want to jack it up so it's off the ground when the air is released it won't go flat and break the bead). If you need to replace the whole valve stem, I think you need to break the bead to be able to get inside to remove the TPMS with the valve and swap it over.

I would torch the Bronco before I would go to costco every week.

It's worse than you think, my dear Motovita. Twice a week to make sure I stay close to my target 39psi. Actually, I do very little of my shopping there, but their gas is Top Tier, cheaper than non-Top Tier off-brand, and I get 5% reward points. Being retired, I can avoid Costco Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and any week with a major holiday.
Costco is a bit too woke for me.
