I took the entire panel off yesterday and put a bunch of sound mat on the metal, all around the sub enclosure, along the top and even some on the plastic panel. It still buzzes…. It drives me insane.

it def coming from the panel, did you guys sound matt the entire side panel Or what?

with what I’ve put on, it already make one of the clips not stay tight due to thickness of the sound matt.

help??

The rock music isn’t as bad, but any bass heavy songs are so bad sometimes at any volume half and up.

I’m gonna try to use that spray damping stuff in the inside of the rear quarter panel.

So I did the same thing, ended up covering the entire cargo area and still had the rattle. Tracked it down to the seatbelt mechanism, so I ended up covering that in KillMat and then also lined the area over the seatbelt. Helped out a lot but you can still hear it a little rattle at certain frequencies.

I thought about adding some type of foam or something that'll actually absorb the sound but it doesn't bother me that much anymore. The Killmat sure helped get rid of like 95% of that rattle coming from there.

It’s the stupid seatbelt retractor. Not much you can do after you Kilmat the plastic rattles which is easy and helps a lot.

That’s fucking insane for a rattle. You’re the man though, looks killer.

Anyone know if I can remove the tensioner on a 2 door without any codes? I think the receiver needs to be plugged in with a clip in it, but hoping I can get rid of the belts with the rear seats.

Yea i actually opened up the seatbelt housing and traced that rattle down to these two pieces, the metal ball moves freely in that plastic cup...any sudden movement in the belt causes it to move and lock up the belt, can't do anything to quiet that down without running the risk of it not functioning correctly when you need it to.

And then this little black piece that bounced around all freely inside behind this white plastic piece. So yea there's nothing you can do about eliminating the rattle, only try your best to absorb the vibration and noise.

If you get bored you can read up on my hunt to eliminate the rattle here:

That connector in the housing is crazy and a PITA to remove, never seen one like it but you can remove it.

There are two white tabs on it, one on each side you'll push them in the direction of the red arrow and then pull off the 90-degree connector in the same direction.

I know in Forscan you can disable the seatbelt reminders but not sure if it would throw any actual codes if you removed them altogether.

Just seeing that makes me more worried. Those are the connectors for air bags and explosive pre tensioners. I read that as “don’t screw with me yellow”. Damn

I was on a huge rattle battle last year and took that back seatbelt housing out for about a week, to verify it was the sole remaining rattle. Which it was. What a glorious week. It sets off the airbag light on dash when you remove the wiring to the housing.

Damn I thought it just controlled the seat belt reminders, it plugs into the seatbelt housing and nowhere else...idk.

I had my sub rattles professionally addressed by a reputable shop. Took half a day. Shop owner said main culprit was the sub housing assembly itself. He wrapped it and most everything around it with sound deadening material. No more rattles or buzzes.
