Think I found my turbo underboost issue!

I’ve been getting a persistent underboost error code (P0299) but am currently working on dropping the trans to rebuild it. To drop the trans I need to remove the exhaust and I noticed this lovely situation pictured as soon as I removed the fender liner to get at the bolts above the cat. The wastegate rod is 100% snapped! Something tells me that wastegates aren’t Bluetooth.
Another part to order, but I’m happy to know I’ll finally knock out that P0299.
Anyone happen to have an extra LH wastegate actuator kicking around??

Wow - what boost levels were you seeing at WOT?

If I were getting on the throttle to get up to highway speed, I’d see around 9psi. I’d see 3-4psi if I was passing someone. Eventually during a drive the accelerator pedal would get “soft” and a little laggy and then it would never go above 0.5-1psi. I assume the ECU just opened the wastegates at that point until the next key cycle.

I was able to buy just the wastegate actuator assembly - which comes with the motor, a new articulating elbow, a c-clip, new screws, and a ring spring - for ~$140 directly from the Ford parts department at my local dealer. Replacement was simple. The motor assembly is held on by 4 allen screws, and like all car service one was really really tough to get to, but eventually I got it. A powered ratchet would have been clutch.

I'm in Ann Arbor and have been going through Varsity Ford, and those guys have been fantastic. I'll walk up to the desk and tell them what I need and they'll search their documentation then flip around the computer screen to verify I'm getting the right part. They've been exceedingly patient and want to make sure they get the right part ordered.

Good find. I wonder if this part will solve my 2.7 rattling actuator assembly they Ford deemed "normal" after I waited 5mths for an approved replacement turbo haha. Still rattling....
