So unless they found that you left the bolts loose when putting the flag bracket on, someone is being an idiot OR they don`t do body work and are correct for saying take it to a body shop.Should still be warranty though if you are less than 3/36.I searched the forms through keywords, but couldn’t find anything related. Suddenly, my tailgate won’t unlock. All four other doors unlock either manually pressing the unlock button on the key or by walking up to it, they all unlock, but all of a sudden my tailgate won’t unlock. I have an 2022 and this is never happened. Anybody else experience this?
It’s definitely warranty covered. And he said both things. That they don’t do tailgate realignment, and that the issue was created by me putting that flag mount on. The shop they referred me to does bodywork repairs for them. So I imagine that because it’s under warranty and if I wouldn’t have had that flag mount on, they would have been obligated to pay for the realignment done at the shop. When I took it to the body shop, they referred. The guy just shook his head and said that there’s no way the miss alignment was caused by the flag mount and that they just wanted to not pay for it so they use the excuse that it was caused by an aftermarket part. So there’s really nothing I can do at this point besides pay for the repair out-of-pocket.So unless they found that you left the bolts loose when putting the flag bracket on, someone is being an idiot OR they don`t do body work and are correct for saying take it to a body shop.Should still be warranty though if you are less than 3/36.
In all my 35 years of driving, I’ve rarely had to go the dealer for anything. It wasn’t even on my mind that they would hassle me over this. This vehicle is nearly 3 years old and I have barely 18,000 miles on it. Never considered they’d disregard the issue and default to the aftermarket excuse that has nothing to do with anything. I have a notion to hit them up and tell them the shop they sent me to said this was caused by the weight of the spare tire and cheap factory parts but that’d put the body shop guy in a bad spot with the dealer. I’m not trying to screw his livelihood over a few hundred bucks. But yeah, Ford is jacked up for this. This is why I just don’t go to dealers with problems. Just save myself the time and hassle of trying to argue with them… a shame really.
The biggest blemish in Ford right now is that they don’t have tight enough reign on dealers who treat customers this way
I mean, I get that there are definitely customers that abuse the warranty process, so I’m not excusing that - but this forum alone is awash with stories just like this. For every “my dealer is awesome” story there are probably 10 where someone should be covered for a legit problem and gets kicked to the curb, or drug out for weeks/months, or mislead
It's not Ford, it's the dealer you went to!In all my 35 years of driving, I’ve rarely had to go the dealer for anything. It wasn’t even on my mind that they would hassle me over this.
