Rear Tailgate Won't Unlock

What plastic piece? The one that @Brian_B mentioned?
Pop that off and take a peek in there?
I Just need to crawl my ass back there I guess and poke around lol

You have to remove the small plastic panel on the inside of the rear door. You'll see the plastic piece.

Alright so a little follow up.
I got back there, popped off the trim panel and was able to unlatch it with a pair of long needle nose pliers.
Once I had it open, I was able to inspect it and it seems as if it was just "stuck".
Once I manually unlatched it, it seemed to lock and unlock no problem.
So I guess we will see what happens...but for now it is working again.
