If you are going to keep the Bronco more than a few years, just live with it. While a respray will look great, it will not hold up over the years like the factory paint. A respray will look much worse in the long run.

I had an accident a few years back in my Honda, the hood was resprayed. Looked great but after a few years in the Florida sun, the clear coat started oxidizing and then flaking off.

No splotchy spots here, just three different shades of silver...

As an old dupont paint rep in all the mfg sites its probably from final paint. Maybe was a spot repair. Silver was always a hard one to match in waterborne if you didnt so it correctly.

I noticed some inconsistencies with the pint on my doors when I picked mine up but thought (hoped) that it probably just need a good wash. Still there after washing. I’ve had bad experiences with dealers fixing paint before and the factory paint should be more durable so
I am planning to live with it. Good luck and keep me posted on what you find and if you are able to get yours fixed!!
These are repaired at the mfg site also in final paint. I used to teach the people in final how to spray waterborne. Silver and Orange was a hard paint to repair.

15-20 minutes on a high speed dry gravel road or 5 minutes on a wet secondary road and everything will “blend” together. You won’t notice it any more!!

Silver is a bit - - to paint if you ve ever done body work/paint or know someone who does.

If your dealer doesn't have a body shop then it should be outsourced to a local body shop. Have the re paint the entire hood though...

I have the same thing on my hood. It looks like two hand prints on my hood in certain light. My PDR guy noticed it a couple weeks ago too. I also noticed what kind of looks like zebra striping when I looked at my fenders at an angle. Like the spray was sequencing normal/light/normal/light coats. This isn't just on mine. When I see something on my car, I search to see if others have the same issue by looking at pics they post, and I've seen many like it. So it must be something about the paint application when going down the line. I haven't noticed it on other colors, but I find it hard to believe Ford sprays these any different. Maybe the other colors hide this thin coat zebra striping better than silver, which would be funny, cause silver hides so many things better than any other color (dirt, dents, scratches).

I had PPF applied to the whole car the week I got it, so there's no going back. Even if It wasn't wrapped, I would NEVER have the factory paint broken. Its hard for me to say this, being as meticulous as I am, but try to do your best to live with it. A Ford body shop once told me "I see the paint issue you're talking about. I can repair it, but keep in mind it's 95% perfect now. When we get done, it could very well be 90% perfect".

Here's a pic that I'm not proud to share, but it highlights what I'm talking about with the fender pretty well.

Speaking as a past dupont rep for automotive application at the mfg sites this is an application problem. Your probably seeing the flake which has moved as it drys. Could be a robotic problem or a final repair problem which was hand sprayed. The silver is known for this. Not much that you can do but have it sprayed again. Contact Ford but good luck.

Would a hood deflector cover it up? Then you wouldn’t have to put yourself through dealing with ford for warranty coverage.

I would definitely take to the dealer and have it looked at by the paint shop. Depending on what they say then you could make the decision if you can live with or go ahead with the repair

@TCB-1 if the pic of mine wasn't enough to let you know that you're not alone, I did a VERY quick search through the forums for other Iconic Silver Broncos with your concern. I tried to keep reflections/shadows to a minimum so that can't be falsely claimed as the cause of what's being highlighted. I used filters to make the issues easier to see. Being that I'm a fellow owner with this same issue, I am leaving my paint alone, as most wouldn't notice it and it would probably come back worse if repaired. Just enjoy the car.

To those who haven't looked to closely at your paint/noticed this, I suggest you don't go looking, you cant unsee it.

Sorry if one of these pictures is of your Bronco. My intention is only to show the OP that they aren't alone, not at all to point out flaws in your car.

Gang. Just took delivery of my '23 Iconic Silver Black Diamond last week. First off, I FREAKIN' LOVE IT! First vehicle I look back at when walking away from!

Second day of ownership, I walk by the front of it in my garage and noticed a very faint dark patch on the front of the hood (about the size of a hand). I get to looking more and there's actually two faint dark patches. My garage has led lighting, btw. After studying the patches, it looks more like where the metal flake didn't "sit" in the same direction as the surrounding coat. It could also be that not enough silver base was not used. Or it could simply be an overlap of metal flake.... but regardless, it catches my eye every time I walk by it now.

I sent my dealer a text right away and asked if they could direct me to a customer service number or email so I can at least make my issue known. Of course I was told, "We I wiped the hood of rail dust for you, that must be it"... Well, actually no, it's not rail dust.

I'm a novice auto painter (novice at best, lol) and would at least like a case opened up. Am I nuts? I understand this isn't a show car and is an assembly line paint job, but I'd actually like a uniformly painted hood. The rest of the truck is darn near perfect with no flake splothes: I had time to evaluate it during applying graphine coating 3 days ago.

Thoughts? Should I just shut up and enjoy? Should I have it evaluated at my local dealer?

Terrible pic, I know. You can pick the faint dark spot out easier with a video.

DO NOT enjoy a flawed paint job. You will resent the fact that you did not hold Ford accountable for providing you with an appropriate paint job. My Raptor had two very small paint bubbles, but I saw them and did not want to have to live with them. You paid for among other things, a flaw-free paint job. I made a claim and it was re-painted and I asked for and received a rental that Ford paid for. The paint sub-contractor took three weeks and the entire car rental was taken care of. Do not settle!

As one that went through the same thing - and then had to bring it back to get fixed a year later because the clear coat was peeling…if I could go back…I wouldn’t have done it in the first place. Unless you don’t plan on owning it forever - then, I guess it doesn’t matter. The next person is screwed.
