I’m looking at the easiest way to upgrade speakers. I see some people have added those very small kicker amps. Has anyone done it on the Braptor? Also anyone change out the subwoofer yet? I gotta use the stock box or something similar since I don’t have any space in cargo area.

MTI makes a raptor specific rear speaker pod. I swapped those out and put Focal 6.5s in them, did the same with the kick panels, and then put 4" FOCALs in the dash.

I am in the midst of changing out the factory sub with an 8" kicker they make for small enclosures, and then add a kicker 500.1 key amp.
Did you amplify the rear 6.5’s you put in the MTI Pods?

Righ now I have swapped all 4” speakers, added some poly and sounds deadening and have a 10” down firing sub. Sounds good but would love to swap to 6.5 in the rear but only my sub is amplified.

Not yet, still on the factory amp for now.

I have a loopback harness that plugs right into your radio, which lets you put an amp in line with your existing speakers. No speaker wire splicing or any of that. Amp can go under your seat and be done in an hour or two. https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/head-unit-t-harness-loopback-for-your-6g-bronco.73299/
FYI for those interested… that harness will only work with the High package.

Goes back to what I was saying earlier about the High package being easier to modify upgrade than the Lux.

The only thing I have done soo far is replace the sub with a Kicker 6.5. next I am going to swap out the rears so I can Forescan it. After that I most likely will put a kicker key amp as I have the non B&O 7 speaker system. Not sure if I am going to stay 4" or up to 6.5" for the rears, I have seen the 6.5 enclosures may not work with our extra support bar haven't looked into it much yet.

Was it a notable improvement? Louder? Deeper? Seeing that full range is not available on the rear?
I am using a Audiocontrol 5.1300 amp, which has the ability to put you in a whole different class. Even the Kicker Key with upgraded speakers will give you an amazing difference.

My Braptor standard 7 speaker audio build (about $1500 total):

4” Speakers in front dash and rear pods:

  • Audiofrog GS42: Link
  • Bronco 4" Speaker Speaker Swap Wiring Set - with 300Hz Bass Blockers (bass blockers in front): Link
  • Design Engineering 050310 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles, 4" Round: Link

6.5” Kick speakers:
  • JL Audio C2650 woofer and crossovers only in kick panels: Link
  • Metra Electronics 72-5602 4-Way Speaker Harness Connector: get with Crutchfiled speaker order (Link) or on Amazon: Link
  • Metra 82-5605 Speaker Mounting Brackets: get with Crutchfiled speaker order (Link) or on Amazon: Link
  • Design Engineering 050330 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles, 6.5" Round: Link

Amp (for six speakers):

  • Kicker 47Key200.4 mounted under steering wheel: Link
  • KIT 11-1 KICKER KEY 180/200,4 Harness and KICKER KEY 200.4 POWER ADAPTER PLUG: Link
I haven't messed with the sub yet.

Note: my objective was the crossovers built into the Audiofrogs, and the crossover for the kick woofer.
Now this is what I was asking and looking for. This really helps out. Did you have to use forscan for anything?

I didn’t do the forscan mod removing the bass blocker on the rear speakers because the sub is back there.

It was pretty straight forward plug n play. The one trick was unplugging the sub while running the key set up program. You plug the sub back in afterward. (I haven’t tried this but under hood fuse #146 may disconnect the sub only.)

I’ll try to get a pic of where I ended up on the amp pin switch settings and post back.

Also, the 4” speakers - I like my high frequencies more buttery. If you prefer crisp you’ll want different 4”. (Titanium dome or something.)
