If anyone notices those scratches in the future, you got them on the Rubicon trail. That’s the story.

Mabett makes then for the OBXI was actually wondering this - because it looks like it would rub no matter how they install them. Are there specific mudflaps that would work or would I need to change the step itself to get flaps? They are required in my state/province.
Never call your insurance company for minor stuff. It is now noted in there system that you called about a potential claim.. This would never warrant a call to an insurance co.On Sunday I was turning right into a church parking lot at a slow speed - I'd guess about 15km/h - and heard a crunch start coming from the passenger front tire. The tire caught the mudflap and it nearly ripped the mud flap off while scratching both the rim and the wheel fender as well. This was on flat terrain in a residential area. I didn't even have the tires turned all the way when it caught - it felt like a normal right turn one would take at a light.
These mudflaps were installed by the dealership and were on the vehicle before I had purchased it last August. I haven't had the tires off the vehicles yet - so everything is stock in that area and is the same as when I bought it. I have done some mods inside the hood after reaching out to the dealership to make sure and they approved all of the changes I asked about (CAI, C/H Charge Pipes, Intercooler, Exhaust).
Just looking to get some thoughts from others as the dealership's response is pointing towards them feeling not responsible. Or if anyone has had something similar happen.
I spoke to my insurance company and they believe that the liability lies on on the dealership - and given I did not hit a foreign object its not really an insurance issue. This is a bit of a mall cruiser as I haven't had time to take it off road - so I've babied it quite a bit. Less than 9k on the odometer. I also measured the back mud flaps and one is just over an inch away from the back tire and the other one is over 2 inches away from the tire - meaning they are also out.
Thanks in advance!

"It was a hard 15*C outside. The sun was so blue I had to wear sunglasses. As I turned the mighty beast into the church parking lot I knew I had over committed"If anyone notice those scratches in the future, you got them on the Rubicon trail. That’s the story.
Easy there - I was using the word wrecked in regards to being damaged. I am not looking to write off the vehicle. The vehicle is easily driveable as this is cosmetic damage except for bolts being ripped off inside the wheel well which will need to be fixed.Wrecked? <-- Holy Hyperbole.
Can't believe insurance didn't total it.
Good news that mudflaps are probably the #1 exterior modification just based on the number of redundant threads on B6G. There should be plenty of info on B6G to help you make an informed decision on which set to get.
As for your "wrecked" wheels, you now have instant off-road cred at your cars and coffee. Just make up an elaborate story to match the wheel rash badge ofhonorshame.
I work closely with the insurance company - luckily with my position asking these questions to them is a simple call/message for me to get an opinion.Never call your insurance company for minor stuff. I am not from the USA - where I am from, specifically the state/province we are required by law to have mudflaps on each tire of the vehicle. A dealership was actually held responsible when they sold vehicles without mudflaps on each tire a number of years ago by our government insurance. With those steps, you don't even need mudflaps...?
Just wanted to repeat what I said above - we are required by law in my state/province to have a mudflap on each separate tire of the vehicle. I am not from the USA.I believe the flap requirement is only the rear in some states and never the front.
I really like the mudflaps - I am gonna see about what I can do to move that step back a bit potentially. Thanks for the pictures and advice!I installed these on my outer banks(non-sas) because the parking lot at work is gravel and I exit on to the highway and literally have to floor it to merge almost daily so there is a lot of rock flick and the slush on the side steps in the winter drove me nuts. so I wanted heavy flaps. I did have to move the sidesteps back a good bit and then forward again when i added 295's and did a 2 inch lift so i wouldn't rip them off in deep snow since they attach right to the fender. But they've been solid so far.

just curious what province? Because they are selling them left and right here in Newfoundland without themJust wanted to repeat what I said above - we are required by law in my state/province to have a mudflap on each separate tire of the vehicle. I am not from the USA.
Appreciate the positive vibes!Which also explains the “Wrecked” verbiage. Pay no attention to the haters. I’d be pissed too.
I will privately message you as to not dox myselfjust curious what province? Because they are selling them left and right here in Newfoundland without them
I will add it was mid December and freezing so i took the quick and easy route and just drilled about 9 self drilling rustproof screws through the bottom of the brackets and was going to do it properly this summer. but it's holding up well so I'm not in a rush. I don't really even step on them but the amount of rocks I hear hitting the bottom of the steps convinced me to leave them on.I really like the mudflaps - I am gonna see about what I can do to move that step back a bit potentially.
