SOLVED: Caught with my top down, now it won't start.

Bypass the WD40. It will do more harm than good. It’s electrically conductive and may melt the plastic and rubber in the connectors.

I use CorrosionX but when i mention it most folks look at me like i‘m from another planet. WD40 isn’t conductive but the film/residue it leaves behind collects dirt and dust that could be conductive over time. (WD means water displacing). The CorrosionX film will dry and be a corrosion preventative. The materials they use in connectors and wire coatings now is made from organic material (that’s why rodents like to chew it) so good call - no telling what wd40 would do to it.

Water in a connector somewhere. Likely in the center console/shifter area.

I have considered taking up all of the carpet and seeing if I can spot any corroded wiring anywhere, but that seems like a goose chase.

There isn’t a lot of wiring under the carpet - but the channels in the door sill have a ton of it

I’d also take a really close look under the steering wheel where that fuse panel is - the BCM is there with a lot of harnesses that go to almost everything

If you plan to keep the Bronco long term, I second the motion to pull all carpets and pads, and let it all dry thoroughly. I speak from a similar experience with a sunroof and a Yukon. Opened door to go to work after an overnight rain, and water poured out from inside. A dehumidifier was not gonna be enough. So glad I took the time to dry it out properly. Good Luck!

I remember learning on jeep forums that the clock spring was especially susceptible to water. Not sure that would prevent the whole rig from starting up though.

I believe you already did it, but I would disconnect the battery for an hour and then try again. Make sure the fuse panel is not loose as well. You may have bumped things removing the battery the first time.

Georgia=Humidity=not drying out... Dehumidifier, code reader and battery unhooked.... The screens say not to get them wet BTW... where did all the water dump?

Yikes. I bet they total it. Too many modules. I’m dealing with similar, but mine involved a lake. Waiting for the adjuster to give the word. Sucks.
