Skid plate question

I have my VIN (not built yet) for a WT. I have the MOD bumper, so it comes with the front bash plate. You can now add the full armor from the factory (but not after you have a VIN). My question is this, "Can you order the rest of the armor/bash plates and have it DIO? Anyone already done this?

If you can find a part number then I would expect the ability to order it. Just need to find the right person to help you get that info. Would also expect the aftermarket to offer something as well. Maybe that 4WP person on this board might be able to help? Or maybe @flip ?

If I remember all you can get is the transfercase plate. Fuel tank plate is N/A. Need to check tomorrow to be sure.

Parts catalogue is showing plates not available for body E5A/E5C, both 2 door. You can get the accessory kit that has all 3 which is kind of a waste since you already have the front one. I don't know that the difference is with the one under the engine/trans/transfer case between the 2 and 4 door. Maybe nothing but 4 door plates look like they are available individually.

I would go aftermarket. I think 4WP is developing a full set based on what the Ford engineers who tested at Rubicon Trail told them got bashed in addition to what the factory plates protect.

Why not just get the 4wheel parts heavier armor?

Because heavier subtracts from your payload. I will be removing what I can from my Badlands until I need it because all that extra mass affects fuel mileage, transmission, suspension and tire wear, lugging around hundreds of lbs. In useless mass isn't optimal.
I was watching a Lite Brite YouTube channel video posted this weekend and they were negotiating a trail with another couple that owns an off road parts business that specializes in steel, aluminum and UHMW PE skid plates for Wranglers, I'd check out something in aluminum if your rig doesn't come standard with them.

Seeing that the skid plates run $540 from TASCA, it makes the modular bumper look like a pretty great deal at $825, especially on the 4 door which IIRC doesn't necessarily have the gas tank protection like the 2 door models do (I could be wrong about this).
