Thanks for the add! I have a 2D Badlands that has the warn winch kit on it. I wanr to flat tow it behind our RV but the winch is obstructing where I would normally hook up, but I see there are two 2 inrings on either side of the bumper. I’m trying to figure out what adapter I need and what tow bar to use. Here is what I THINK I need?

adapter:

https://www.roadmasterinc.com/off-road-bumper-adaptors/

Tow bar:

https://www.roadmasterinc.com/nighthawk-tow-bars/

Can anyone help me out? I’ve read flat towing is best but should I just look into a tow dolly? Thanks!

You can not tow your Bronco with a tow dolly. Yes you are on the right track with the above. Just need to choose which size adapter fits your bumper.

Read the flat tow threads here on the forum. There are several. And follow the owners manual instructions to the tee.

I followed the flat toe instructions to a tea works great for 23 to 25 starts and stops and then it didn’t $6300 later on the trip of a lifetime five days from home. The transmission was fried and Ford blamed me for doing it so I guess the first 25 times I just was lucky. I am warning you do not flat to this vehicle and yes, you are prepared to pay the up to $10,000 transmission fee read other postings on this subject and you will find many others with the same problems you have been warned. I really hope this doesn’t happen to you, but I can assure you it does happen. It happened to me. Note this message was composed using speech to text without glasses. I hope it makes sense. Any misspellings or grammatical errors you can blame on Apple.

There were several, some Ford covered and more that Ford blamed on the owner. All had the Advanced transfer case best we can tell. Ford never admitted there was a problem on their end, but we think they fixed a software glitch recently. No reports recently that we’ve seen here anyway. Rangers had some transmission failures during flat tow also. I believe it’s still a gamble.

We are looking at both the Ranger and Bronco for flat towing so I guess it doesn't really matter which we pick

Maybe. But I don't believe Rangers have the Advanced 4x4 (other than maybe new Raptors??) so if they are having issues it's with part time 4x4 which we haven't seen here

Which makes me slightly less confident that I won’t ever have an issue even though I have the regular transfer case. I bought a trailer this weekend that the Bronco will fit on, so will start trailering it sometimes depending on the destination. Flat towing is wearing out my mud tires anyway.

Man you were my moral support, if @Fordified1 believes it's just the 4As must be true!

I think we researched it together. I believe you did more research than I did so maybe it was the blind leading the blind but I think we’re still right and we’ll be OK but I’m just gonna trailer mine sometimes.

Yeah, I did some cyber stalking and found 6 of 10 failures where definitely 4A, 2 probably and 2 maybe with no confirmed part time. I have no personal knowledge of Ranger failures, and I 'm not going poking around.
