I installed a pair of Rigid D-SS on the “A pillar”. Not sure if this location is technically the “a pillar” but that’s what I’m calling it. Install is pretty easy if you’re “handy”. In a nutshell, take out the two “a pillar” bolts and the cover comes off fairly easily
using your hands you can pry up the plastic and feed the wire through like so…
Make the connections from the harness to the AUX wiring switch of your choice. I chose AUX 4 because it’s a 10 amp fuse and the lights draw a little over 5 amps. Rigid supplies a 15 amp fuse with the harness so 10 amp will protect the lights just fine. Refer to owners manual for more info on AUX wiring and amp ratings. (forgot to take photos of the wiring)
A few things I did…
1) There are 2 different sized bolt heads on the on the A pillar. I mounted the lights on the outside bolt which was a smaller head but the same thread as the bigger head. I switched the bolt locations to better accommodate the Rigid bracket. The antenna impedes on the light when using the inner bolt and leaves little room even on the outer location.
2) The wiring harness Rigid supplies has a relay, switch, and a fuse that is not needed for the install. (the AUX switches are already fused). You have to dissect the wiring harness a little. The red wire goes to the AUX switch wire (I used AUX switch 4/brown wire) and the black goes to ground which I used an already existing grounding bolt.
It’s pretty straightforward and the lights are awesome and look great! Let me know if you have any questions. I’ll post a review of the lights in the coming weeks.
