Man, ill give LESS than 10% success rate for OP
Im curious how or why you would have all the tools to set up a r&P but have never done it… i have the tools, but i bought them to do it and had help. This is not changing an air filer or sparkplugs…. Not in anyway saying it cant be done…. Just theres a reason most towns have gear shops….
Yep, just because it goes together, does not mean it goes together correctly ;) Time / mileage will tell

Set up several arbs. Just use the old crush sleeve to get the correct pinion depth then torque the new one for final install. The hardest part with the arb is to be very careful with the o rings when taking the carrier in and out any little scoring will cause air leaks and disengages locker. Btw other than a dial indicator for backlash and marking compound both can be bought at harbor freight for $30 there are no special tools.

Also don't let the people on here stop you. We all had start somewhere.

I have the tools because I have a lathe and Mill at home. Vehicles aren’t my only hobby. The Ford Performance rebuild kid comes with two crush washers but using the old one for setup seems like a decent idea. I’m still not 100% I will be doing the install myself since it’s my only vehicle at the moment.
If my cars engine parts were back from the machine shop and I had the engine all together it would be a no brainer.
I’ve rebuilt engines, manual transmissions, I have welded vehicle projects and other non related life threatening projects. I’ve made car parts from scratch, modified stuff on my large and mill.
You always do something the first time at some point. I know I won’t rebuild an automatic trans myself again. That is the only project I’ve ever hit where I realized it wasn’t something I’d attempt again.
Tbh this doesn’t seem that hard.
Especially if I pull the axle housing off the vehicle. Either way I will be installing the pump and manifold system tomorrow hopefully. This should be more straight forward than the front with the Ford Procal tune not eliminating my FDU and inoping my 4x4

One way to do your first one is to tear it down, bring the tore down unit with all the kit parts to an understanding gear shop and pay them to help you set up the gears on the bench. Not all gear shops will accommodate you, but some will, that's how I did my first one.

Alternatively, complete the setup yourself and have a competent shop check your work. It's one of those jobs where having someone knowledgeable check your work is worth it.
