My best guess is that this is some sort of "Dealer" install GPS / Antitheft device. It was installed behind the drivers kick panel, next to the speaker. Any idea if it can be unplugged and tossed?

Thanks

I know my dealer will install crap like this and just expect you to pay for it since it’s already installed. Then if you negotiate it back out, they just leave it because it’s not worth pulling back out.

Toss it if you didn’t put it there yourself. That said, some insurance companies will give you a discount if you have it installed…

Which makes no sense considering the vehicle already has location tracking via the TPU.

If you were not provided with information to log into the tracking account and track your vehicle, that leaves three choices:
1. Dealer installed tracker to mitigate theft loss of dealer stock.
2. A tracker in case the dealership need to repossess it. Some of the less than honorable dealers do it with high risk borrowers.
3. Tracking device the dealer installed and you didn't purchase the added service, so they just let it in place.

I'd pull it and the associated wiring all the way back to the factory harness and make sure they didn't damage any of the factor wiring when they installed it. I had a F150 the dealer ended up having the replace the dash harness because their 3rd party installed cut the factory harness in several places trying to install a LoJack, then used wire nut to twits the wire back together-shoddy workmanship.

I found something similar hidden under my dash a few weeks after taking delivery of my 2024 that was manufactured by Icon. Had a power wire tapped into OBD power with a built in backup battery. So I drove to the dump, cut the wire, and tossed it. That will be its last known location! LOL
