I thought this was gonna be easy, but after popping off the cap and trying to remove the bolt with an M3 Allen wrench I think I’ve stripped the head of the bolt :( Did anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to get this bolt out? View attachment 692291

I picked up one of the Boomba weighted shift knobs. After the Archetype shift knob disaster I had to get some kind of new knob…

How do you like it? I’m looking at Boomba or Twisted. I like the size of the Boomba, I think.

I have the boomba. I love it. It's the best all around knob.

Oem is the worst knob of any oem knob I've had in a car.

I was able to pick up an AR knob, but being all metal, it will be freezing to touch in winter, so i won't install until March.

I've been looking at Twisted shifter lately because the height, and they offer glitter knobs. They dont look the best, but I'm going for the V1 adapter height. I'm willing to check it out. I'd love to go higher with a longer throw. They are the only company to offer a wide variety of knobs. I tried contacting them twice yesterday with no response, so I'll see how that goes. (Edit, they contacted me first thing this morning). Ordered.

I love the B&M shift kit height, but I'm intimidated by the install. The bronco is my only car and if I screw something up I'm F'd. Plus, it's something that can wait. No need to give ford a reason to deny warranty work right now.

Enjoy the boomba. I do find it is as the say, always temp neutral. Never freezing or too hot to touch. Yes, the temps will vary, but no way near what a metal knob does

I ran the Boomba for a year and just replaced it with the Twisted Shifter. I like them both but wanted to try something different. Pretty easy to change out for a different look / feel. I prefer both over the OEM shift knob. Also added the aluminum lock out lever recently which is nice.

The very first change I made was installing the Boomba knob. My OEM knob stayed on only long enough to drive home from the dealer. The weight, height, looks, and temperature tolerance are all perfect. Enjoy!

I have an auto so I don't know for sure, but that looks like it takes a Torx/Star bit and not an Allen?? You may be lucky you did not strip the entire bolt head.

That said, the new knob looks great!

I like it. Not sure I love it. Here are a few observations for for my first drive with the new knob:

Pros:
1) Looks good. It looks like it belongs in the vehicle.
2) Shifts better. I think that the added weight of the knob makes shifting between gears smoother. It's not a huge change, but enough to be noticeable.
3) Size/shape feels good. It's a smaller size than OEM and I wasn't sure if I'd like that. I had ordered the "Chisel" from Archetype cause it seemed like it was a closer matching shape to OEM, but the rounded Boomba has a good feel.
4) Metal wasn't too cold. I park in a garage, so maybe not a great test of temperature, but It was 20 degrees this morning and the knob didn't get too cold.

Cons:
1) Shift pattern (plug) sits a little higher on the knob than I'd like. It's not a deal breaker, but I feel like it was designed like this so that it can be removed, but aesthetically, I feel like it should be recessed a bit more and a smoother feel between the two parts.
2) It's not very unique looking. I really wish Boomba offered some variations in color. Even if it was as simple as the shift pattern plug or the Boomba lettering at the bottom.
3) At the bottom of the shift knob, near the reverse lock, the knob is not as smooth as I'd like. I think this edge could have been more rounded for a better feel. Not a big deal, but was different from what I recall on the OEM. Maybe this will grow on me?

Overall, the upgrade was worth it. I ordered mine using their 15% off black Friday deal, so for $80, it was worth it.

Directions said M3 Allen. Once I pushed the bit down far enough, it was a good fit:

I can't remove my boomba for the life of me, I'm not a weak guy but feel they essentially superglued it on, and I'm looking to switch things up

Any advice on how to get it off, chooms?
