I figured I'd get to it eventually but reading the stories of people screwing it up has definitely kept me from making it one of my first mods. The wheels just look so much better in all blackI did it all by hand, no issues whatsoever. Cracking the thread locker definitely requires a little force but after that, it's like any other bolt. I was nervous because all the stories on here but there was absolutely no need to be.
I honestly think people using tools that are overkill for the job are part of the issue.
Also added the black rings.

No. That would have required a trip to a tire shop as one set did not have tires. So wait, you're saying you removed that rings from your wheels, then removed the rings from another set of wheels, then installed each set on the other set of wheels?
Wouldn't it have been far easier to swap the wheels?![]()
That's correctThere is thread locker on the bolts from the factory right? Thank you.
Thank you. I purchased a set of wildtrak rims and transferred the rings. After selling the rims with my silver rings installed, it hurt my wallet $50 +fuel, some lengthy drive time and a set of sensors out of my wife's base steelies.Nice job, which rings did you get and how much?
Thank you. I like the aggressive look of the tint more than anything but I'm not overly impressed with the installation but it was only 300 for ceramic so.........I'm not going to have it redone nor am I going to remove itMy experience was also flawless. I have my warm alloy beauty rings for sale- only 50 miles on vehicle before swap.
My vehicle looks so much better, as does yours. I should be receiving black lug nuts today, and they should make it look even better.
Do you like the tint on your vehicle? I'm on the fence.
Thank you!I think the initial loosening by hand is the key. When you start out with the impact gun, if one of the bolts has an issue, you probably wouldn't notice until it's too late.
Nice write up.
Haha! That's a base with wildtrak rings! Factory rock rails off a beautiful antimatter blue bronco. What sliders do you have on Wildtrak? Or those retractable steps?
There are 12 bolts per ring X 5 wheelsThere are only 60 bolts?
Maybe they change em up to keep us on our toes.....my TP45 would not go.Mine all came out fine too. Cracked by hand with a ratchet and then zipped out with a 1/4"' impact. I could swear I used a TP45 though.
Thanks! Nice wheels! One of the first mods I did. No problems with the bolts either. Great choice.![]()
NICE!!!! Race red is badass too!!!I took the trim rings off. Started them by hand then used the gun. No Problems. Then I put the real Ford bead lock rings on that had been sitting on my kitchen table for 12 months, after I had them powder coated, and anti seized them generously. Then took it down to get the 37 ko2's put on. The tire store put the tires on the rim without using the bead lock rings and left the big gap. Then they got to do it over correctly. This picture is before the zone 2 inch leveling kit. I did moderate off roading with out rubbing before the lift. Locked in both ends with 5 psi it is amazing.
