Would 4 auto on the advanced transfer be of use for OP situation? But that only comes with full 4x4 option trim such as Badlands I believe.

I’m voting No for your intended use. If you plan to stay on 33” tires forget SAS package and save the money for other stuff.
Full disclosure, I got the front locker 😁

I agree but yeah - think it only comes on BL and SAS now. Still really good idea for the OP to
think about though - 4A is probably better than any locker on road in bad weather

I've got the rear only (4.27) and have only needed it once. In the snow melt, dirt parking lot, sunk into some mud. 4H, was stuck. Hit the locker, and it rolled out of the mud like it wasn't even there. Otherwise I've not had a use for it at all. I'm a mall crawler that sees some farm land, sand, and kid's cross country races.

My opinion and exerience. I Love 4A in the snow for every day normal driving. Even when I am on the trails here in the winter. I have only rarely had to drop it into 4 in the snow and that was mostly because it was way deeper than I anticipated. I have used both lockers and have found them useful as the situation demanded. I mostly find the best thing to do is turn off the damm traction control.

I didn't like the way my Bronc Rap was looking at other inferior trim models or the way it teased Jeep owners as we passed them going uphill on the Himalayan trails in Nepal. I therefore elected to vasectomy-off my Front/Rear lockers, including the middle locker for good measure. Mechanic asked if I needed the Trail Turn Assist and I boldly said, "I don't plan on turning back around, so hack that off as well..."

Good riddance to all that tech! It's not like I wanted to buy the Most Advanced Factory Off Road Vehicle in existence ....

For your described use case no lockers needed, just the buddy system and a yank \ tow strap. Is this all you ever plan on doing with your ride?

It’s standard on the heritage too.

I wanted to replace my bronco with a new one. Was think of just a black diamond with rear lock..I do light offroad and live in a in the snowy arera. .So do I really need a front locker.?
First I'll say, no one needs the mid-package or above for fire roads, that girly stuff is for the Starbucks crowd, or hitting the shopping mall (no offense to those unable to drive a vehicle with adaptive cruise control, or advanced headlights). Now since you just saved a bunch of otherwise wasted money... Secondly almost anyone could get by without a front locker, but keep in mind the front locker includes (gearing, lift, better shocks, stronger axles, stronger rack, etc)......Basicly the stuff that should've been standard in the Bronco.

Winches front and rear trump lockers any day... if you don't mind slow, rigging and getting out....

The 4Auto is more useful for your winter use case, but it only comes with the locker for some dumbass beancounter reason now, apparently. So, both is the answer and you get the 4A as well.
