Ford Bronco Pre wire trailer. IMG_0077
In this metal box is a plug. Is this wiring for trailer hitch?

Yes, part of the preinstalled wiring harness. The trailer tow package is now a dealer installed option even if ordered ā€˜factory installed’ (as you may know). They take this box off when they install the hitch receiver. They gave this loose piece and the bolts to me after they put on the receiver.

its a bit of a PIS to remove the bolts holding the box are really in there. I just zip tied to the frame as I only added the receiver for a bike rack. If anybody knows of a good option to mount the plug separately next to an installed receiver I’d love the suggestion

How did you unscrew the bolts to remove the box? The plastic washers don’t seem to come off.

I had long, tight bolts that required a lot of elbow grease to back out. I don’t recall issues w washers.

I had to remove the whole bumper to remove that plate, I’ve fitted a Curt receiver, and I think it may have the trailer module behind the drivers side rear trim, what else do I need to get the electrics working…. Forscan, plugs etc??
