They don't have a plug and play option for these, the amp research do though.
When you installed these, how did you run the wires in to the cab? Through the drain plug, or some where else?
Sorry, its been a while since I did them. I do remember drilling a hole near door sill for something. I remember the instructions didn't match the wiring but assumed they had fixed by now. As best I can remember they showed mounting the controller on the opposite side from where it fit. Sorry I don't remember more.

Hey,

I installed the Rhino's about 2.5yrs n love the magnetic switches. No issues, or corrosion and still look good. 👍👍

Well, well well. What a coinky dink.
I'm *was* installing these today but hit a snag.
I don't see how to run the wiring harness in to the cab. It says through the rubber grommet in the floor of the driver's seat area. It looks like in the photo they mean the drain plug.
The problem is, there's a heat shield immediately on the other side of the body there on my Bronco. And 1" from that heat shield is the catalytic converter.
I think I can fish the wires between the body and the heat shield, but the only way to come out is towards the center line of the bronco. I then have to get those wires towards the pinch weld by going over or under the catalytic converter/exhaust to plug in to the controller mounted to the inside of the pinch weld.

I've taken a break for dinner and to research other people that have installed them to see how they ran the wires.

The first video I found the instruction seem to be completely different. He ran the wires through the rear row seats floorboard. I don't think my wires are long enough to do that. Plus he didn't run it through the rubber grommet, he ran it through one of those plugs with the plastic positive pressure valve (i think) things in it.

I called Rough Country and talked to one of the guys there. He wasn't sure what to recommend, they've only ever done it 'through the rubber grommet' and didn't find anything about any heat shields.

More research required.

I know at some point the instructions changed...
This is what I got with mine:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/roughcountry/install/Ford Bronco Eboards.pdf

But I also found this online:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/roughcountry/install/PRS51330.pdf

That second one is very vague. "Insert the wiring harness through the access hole in the floor on each side of the vehicle"

In mine it says "
11. Lift the carpet to expose the rubber grommet on the driver side. Feed the brown signal wire,
white signal wire, and On/Off switch wires through the rubber grommet."

Both use the same photo:
Which sure looks to my like it's coming from the drain plug.

And the next step specifically says drain plug.
"Install the supplied wiring harness’ Brown, White and On-Off switch wire through the grommet in
the drain plug under the floor of the vehicle to the inside of the cab. See Photo 9"

Problem is that photo 9, is not a Bronco.

The directions are indeed wrong because you cannot use the grommet in the floor.

I ran the power lead up to the battery by following the driver’s side frame rail up to the front wheel well, under the liner into the engine bay and to the battery. I used wire loom and copious zip ties to secure it along the way. I also didn’t follow their directions to set up the magnetic contacts and I installed them closer to the door strikes and they have worked flawlessly.

Good luck with your install!

Why can’t you use the drain plug in the floor?

Probably because of the heat shield right below the drain plug, and the cat just below that :)

It's only the magnetic sensors and the on off switch wires that run inside. The power runs below the Bronco forward to the engine bay. I'll get plenty of pictures tomorrow. Rough Country asked for them as well when I was done because the guy I was talking to today was unaware of the heat shield.

There’s no heat shield in the way of either drain plugs in the rear seating in my 2024 Bronco

Yup, but the instructions show/say the drain plug in the floor of the driver's seat. Probably what he meant by you can't use that drain plug.

That’s correct @DaveInSA
And, @Trek0045 once you start running wires through the drain plug, you create 2 problems:
1 - how are you going to effectively remove it if there is a wire running through it?
2 - you have now compromised the drain hole and your interior is going to take on liquid when performing any real water fording

99.9% of people aren’t going to flood their Broncos

I guess they got rid of some heat shields in later Broncos for cost savings or something. I just dug under my rear carpet and the left rear drain plug also has a heat shield under it, cause that’s the side the exhaust runs down. Just below the heat shield is the exhaust.

I'm over 2 years with the GoRhino power step boards, one of the best mods yet for me.

I have them. The rough country . Been on about 8 months. They work great. Had the amp steps on my jeep. I like these better. They are dual motor and pretty straight forward install.

Question for you, where did you install the controller? The instructions say the drivers side but there is no place on the drivers side to mount it and the pics they show in the instructions are of the passenger side. So frustrating! Thanks!
