Well this weekend saw an odd first for me. I filled up and was at 402 miles to E, I was 'whoa! first time for that!' Then I drove 40ish miles and the range was up to 410 miles to E. This was in the far nothern to farther western 'burbs of Chicago so I was surprised. But the next morning I turned the car on and I was back down to 403 the next morning and at a 164 not too long later. lol

Yes, it's that dirty as you can see I tried to wipe it down but it made it worse. Darn dog hair.

If Ford ever gets around to building my 24 Wikdtrak SAS 4dr Lux I’m hoping for 20. By comparison my 20 F350 6.7 with a 60g S&B tank. Unloaded Denver to Louisville, KY, I could have made Cincinnati but didn’t want to push it.

When in Texas it averages a little over 300. When in high altitude like Colorado it can be well over 400. Also get better MPG in our Rubicon in Colorado. Likely the less dense air is my guess. But then again the gas in Co is way more than in TX.

Gotta post whether you have a 2-dr or a 4-dr. Big difference between the two in fuel tank size.

2-dr: 16.9 gal
4-dr: 20.8 gal
400 miles on a 4-dr is like 325 miles on a 2-dr, proportionally. 400 x (16.9/20.8) = 325.

Having said that, I have a 2-dr and my best tank got me 384.5 miles. Second best was 372.3 miles. Both were on the same long trip, mostly highway driving. The 384.5 mile tank would be equivalent 473 miles in a 4-dr, I think.

These were on the same day, in fact. I drove about 800 miles that day, and the Bronco was very comfortable. It has the aerodynamics of a brick but Ford nailed the ergonomics, in my opinion.

On the 384.5 mile tank, I put in 16.784 gallons when refilling, I cut it close. 22.9 mpg calculated by me, Bronco trip odometer said 23.3 mpg. The 372.3 mile tank took 16.017 gallons, got 23.2 mpg, and the Bronco trip odometer said 24.1 mpg.

(Yes, I am an engineer, in case you're wondering.)

You can tell by the temperatures that I was driving south to north. And by the lighting that the first tank was during the day, second tank was at night near the end of the drive.

Also, you can see I did choose Eco mode for this drive. I don't think it makes any difference for a steady drive like this, because I have a manual transmission and I'm just sitting in 6th gear for hours. Nevertheless, Eco does dull the gas pedal response, which is fine when slow throttle changes are all I need.

Finally hit the elusive 400+ mile range indicated on my 2-door. Had to go a little slow, only 68 or 69 mph max most of the time, hang loosely behind some trucks, etc. This was part of a drive from Wisconsin down to Georgia. Would have gotten over 400 miles actual driving if I had continued, but I needed to stop for some brisket at Buc-ee's.

Ford says 25.1 mpg, but 15.688 gallons worked out to 24.0 mpg in reality.


I could have gone 400+ miles if I had chosen to.

Never will I achieve “Range” with my 2 door. But my 37PP Raptor is a different story.

Two years and 25k miles in now, getting 23 mpg, this on the 2.7, 10 spd, 4 door! Yes, I drive with my eye on the rpm and trip guages! So I regularly start with 460 on fill up, have seen the combo of miles driven and yet to go at 525 one day!! Usually just under 500, tho' I fill at 450 or so anyway. Very happy, much better than expected. Oh, I usually use 89 or a combo near that...that's supposed to add mileage at the cost per gallon...

My Volvo is around 590 miles of range.

My Bronco can be as poor as 220 to as high as 340, average is 270 miles.

Interesting that almost everyone is sub 399 MPG. I get around 450+ of range every time I fill up and I drive about 90 miles round trip five times a week. Driving is about 80% Highway at 70MPH, back roads about 15% at between 30 - 40 MPH with multiple stop signs and remaining is 5% of traffic on the 695 entering and exiting Baltimore. I always set my cruise on the highway to 70 and just chill but don't use cruise on the back roads or in Baltimore.
