FYI to everyone. I knew the computer was off since it was constantly reporting 18-19 MPG, but my records said much less. That's when I found BeachBum's post.

So unless someone has corrected their AFE bias their computer is wrong.

When I opened your PDF, it was apparent that it was made from my original AFE Bias post which was likely last year.
I need to edit my PDF and give you credit.

I'm glad that my original post (used to make that PDF) had a lasting impression on someone here on B6G. I gave up preaching to the masses as I was mostly ignored. Just trying to help others. Seems the helpful posts get little traction. But someone complaining about no one waving at them will balloon into a multi-page thread.
What's the asterisk for?

Nah. Not looking for credit. Just posted then to help others. You can take up the torch, now.

I didn't see an asterisk in my reply that you quoted?
The asterisk was a reference for those using metric units. I added an explanation and reposted.

I'm averaging 22.9mpg with a 50/50 mix of highway and "in town" driving. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised with the fuel economy, and I say that as a hardcore V8 guy who is still disappointed we didn't get a Coyote Bronco and instead got Spongebob's 2.7l sewing machine instead.

But hey, it has been a great little engine so far. I just like V8s. The car parked next to our Bronco gets 7mpg, for comparison.

How are you measuring your mileage? The Bronco computer gives inaccurate mileage unless you've adjusted the AFE bias.

I haven't adjusted AFE bias, but I have manually calculated the mileage a few times and it was within a few percent of what the computer said. If I said +/- 0.3 mpg, I'd feel that's safe with my driving habits, loading, etc. Prior to the Bronco, I had an '18 Mustang GT that averaged about 21.5mpg, so for the Bronco to do better is impressive. I have a very light foot and borderline obsessive driving habits.

It's very impressive. I haven't been able to take a long highway trip without hills. I'd love to know what my Bronco would get then.

I have never taken it on a long flat highway- I live near the mountains and everything has a grade one way or another. We used to have a JKU Jeep and it barely got 17mpg. As much as I (playfully) rag on the 6g Broncos for not having a V8, it does really well with the little 2.7l. I have grown to like that engine.

I’ve found that Bronco Mileage is horrible inaccurate (as has been said, need to calibrate it, I just haven’t)

BUT

The Miles ‘til Empty (DTE) calculation is almost always spot on.

Curious. Both are kinda supposed to be measuring the same thing, just showing it in different units. Almost like the EPA looks at one but not the other.

Mine hand calc has been within 10ths of the lie meter.
Close enough for me. I’m happy as I was expecting 16-17.
Broncos getting the same as my 24 Ranger with the 2.7

So just did this today. As soon as I saved the AFE Bias, the MPG for my current trip dropped from 17.7 to 16.7.

My hand calcs for the last several thousand miles has always been ~1 mpg under the trip computer so I set my bias to 950 as that was the average. It could have been as low as 940 and as high as 965.

One minor addition to add to the PDF would be to add that there is no way to exit engineering test mode other than to turn off the Bronco (at least that is what I determined). I know your instructions say to turn off the engine, but that could have been inferred (as it was by me) that this step was to see the new MPG. But it seems to also be the only way to leave the engineering test mode.

As others have commented. No matter how bad the average MPG is, the miles to empty seem to be spot on. I have driven both city and highway and gotten down to low single digits multiple times.
