Plastic to capable sensor compatibility

I am going from the plastic to the capable bumper on my Wildtrak. I know this has been talked about at length but there still does not seem to be a consensus. Some say the outside sensors have to be replaced, some say you can reuse them with no problem. Does anyone have a definitive answer to this?
