Oil pan change

I would like to know if anyone here changed his oil pan and if there was any issue after.
I will have to change mine and wanted to know what I should check after it is done.

On a 2.3 you have to pull the engine, I’ll bet you do on a 2.7L too.

2.7 can be done in vehicle. But the FDU and steering gear have to be removed.

Understandable to think that if you aren't familiar with Ford's workshop manual, however you have to also go though each section it lists.
For example, to remove the steering gear, it instructs you to remove the FDU. While that may not be entirely necessary for steering gear replacement, I'm willing to bet it is for oil pan removal/installation.

I saw just it. For a mechanic this is simple task? Is there some risk or potential issue after?

It’s pretty much the same as any other repair. Highly depends on the skill of the person doing the work

When I was in college I co-op'd at a GM factory. Over their 2-week shutdown every year, they'd let us work at dealerships to get a feel for that end of the business. I always stayed in service, because that's where you see the issues people have.

Had a guy come in for an oil change, claimed that dealer had ALWAYS done the oil changes. Tech came out 45 minutes later with a handful of oily butterfly nuts he fished out of the oil pan, including the one he had removed when he started...because the threads for the plug were stripped and the oil was barely flowing out.

The guy BLEW UP when we showed him the parts and that the vehicle history in the computer showed he hadn't been in for almost 100k miles. He tried to get the manager to give him a new oil pan because 'the tech must have screwed it up, you guys are the only ones who service it!' and so on. Needless to say pictures were taken, parts were kept, and the guy hauled his vehicle out on a flatbed since it couldn't be driven - dealer wouldn't slap a bandaid on it and wouldn't do more unless the oil pan was replaced.

Some people go pretty far!

Here I know I did broke it, put a ronin plug and during oil change felt a bit loose so tried to tight it more and it broke. So no choice now. Will have to pay for the repair but lesson learned.
