I'm heading to the TN Off-Roadeo in October and was wondering if the $75 insurance coverage was worth the expense? Specifically, has anyone attending the Off-Roadeo had to use the insurance to cover any damages to the vehicle while attending the event? How often does it happen during events, and is it limited to the driver only?

I'm usually not big on insurance, but if the vehicles break often, then I'll probably pony up (pun intended).

I’m glad you’re asking this question because I’m going to the off roadeo in Texas next month and I’ve been thinking about this exact thing

I did just because it was my first time ever off road. It just helped me be a little bit less nervous about going into the event.

It was not too bad - no one in our group dinged anything or had anything terrible happen. If you listen to the instructor, and don't freak out and mix your left and right pedals up, you won't have any issues and will have a good time.

That said, of course - a similar question to this was asked to the guides. They said just a few weeks before us one guy mashed the gas instead of the brake on a incline and rolled over. No one was hurt, but he definitely was glad he had the insurance. But that's not a common thing that happens

I did just because it wasn't too expensive. But I figure it is probably designed for negligence. I'm an experienced offroader, so not too worried about breaking something on their course.

Went to Texas 2 years ago, and unless you are unable to follow instruction, there is minimal risk where insurance is warranted. It's set at low enough price point that most won't hesitate to add it. But you almost never hear of people actually needing it.

With that said, each location has their own hazards. I've heard the NH site can get quite slick and the location of the trails meander through the woods. At that site, it would be worth the insurance cost as sliding into a tree can happen no matter the experience of the driver.

With TN being new, the site's hazards are unknown.

No one is thrilled about paying insurance, until they need to use it.

By it's nature, it is a bet, a hedge, a gamble against the odds, or in your case, your skills vs. mother nature and a Bronco. Your are not an actuary; any one else's experience is irrelevant.

Have you every gone to Vegas and done the slots? How much were you willing to lose?
How bad was the last time you played poker? How about the sports betting pool?
How many six-packs, Starbucks, fiths, or dinner dates is $75 to you?
It's all relative.

Is $75 bucks worth your peace of mind to just go out and enjoy the experience - no worries?
Or are you going to fret, or second guess, or hesitate, or scare the s#!t out of yourself at every dip, turn, or slide thinking you should have paid the $75.

Yes - only the driver. It is a vehicle damage liability waiver fee. Only the driver inflicts the damage. Anything else (bodily) to you or any passengers is on you and your medical and auto insurance. You signed or will sign a waiver to that effect.

I will be getting it when I go in the next six months.
Peace of mind while driving.
It doesn’t seem like anything could go wrong at such slow speeds, but I have not been through this program.
Anything technical, we will probably have spotters guiding us while traveling 3-5 mph.

I attended the GT350 Track Attack and the insurance was $400 which only left you responsible for $7500.00 in total damages out of $75,000.00 if totaled without insurance. We were kind of on our own at 135 mph with other cars and speedway walls.

My son and I just went to TX. There was only one section I thought I would need the insurance. Afterwards I watched the video my son took. No one in thgroup was as freaked out as I was rolling up that rock. We're planning on doing the Rodeos anually and have my son drive for the last one. I do plan on the insurance each time just for the piece of mind

nh definitely has some rocks that can do damage to a SAS badlands. One section they took us had some people banging the undersides, and another has an incline that can flip a bronc if you mash the gas out of fear

Yeah I have video of a tippy spot they took us on I was near the back and could see the first truck go down and you got a nice view of the undercarriage. Here’s a screen shot of me doing it.

Yes, it's possible you might need it if you panic or don't follow instructions. It's also a really small amount on top of the rest of the "free" day - you will likely buy more than that in the gift shop.

If you are worried about some cosmetic pinstriping, try distracting your instructor with a tip and complements when he's doing the inspection at the end of the day.

Well I did New Hampshire this past July in a Bronco Sport and I took the optional insurance just in case.

I’ve done 2 OffRoadeos. I bought the insurance both times for peace of mind. Guides told me very few get the insurance and the low probability of something happening. Just be aware that even with the insurance, there is a deductible if something happens. I believe it was $3,500. It would have to be a significant accident for you to come out ahead.

I attended the Off rodeo Moab session in early May. The insurance was not needed. It is also worth understanding the policy offered limits your out of pocket for damage to $3500. It does not eliminate all liability.
