The Ford flaps would definitely not go on with even the strongest persuasion! Ended up removing the steps, flipping them to the opposite sides. Was able to move the clips and reuse 3 of the factory bolts, plus 3 stainless steel self threading screws, on each side. In all, that moved them a good inch or so rearward, which was just enough to install the flaps. Everything turned out nicely.Regarding mud flaps. I have the WeatherTech ones, both front and back. Drivers side front went on super easy with the factory-installed running boards. The front passenger required some "persuasion" along with loosening the bolts on the running board and really forcing the mud flap in. It is never coming off! The rear flaps went on super easy. The mud flaps definitely help with rain/mud/water coming up from the tires, especially on the door handles.
