It’s the world we’re in now unfortunately! I took my top down for the first time in a few months, last week, and I literally had three different people talk to me on a quick trip to the UPS store. I loved talking to each one of them.

I don’t think that the desire to interact with other people with the same vehicle or to be part of a car community makes someone an enthusiast. They can love the car, want to be left alone, and be an enthusiast.
You get a lot of this right here on the forum :sneaky:

I'm buying this because I like the utility, pricing, and a lot of other reasons that are personal to me. For me it's not a statement, just something I plan to enjoy.

I did the whole Jeep wave thing back in the day, I'm willing to do the finger salute from the wheel, but I'm not going to interact at an intersection. I just cringe thinking of it.

Honestly, the expectations around that are a huge negative to the purchase, but I expect there will be enough by the time I get one that mine won't be rare.

After reading the comments, I guess she could have thought I was a wackjob. I Get it.

I had no idea it was a woman driving when I pulled up. It could have been a racoon and I would have done the same.

All others I've passed, the driver seemed as excited to see me.

I'll leave people alone.
I would keep doing the same. If they don't respond positively or at all, then oh well their loss not yours. Life's too short to worry about people like that. Wave, thumbs up, strike up a conversation if the opportunity arises. If a person can't handle a friendly gesture then that's on them!

I’m in the opposite end of this I’m a little disappointed more people haven’t said something about it at gas stations, in parking lots lol. I’ve gotten a good share of do you like it and it’s nice but not any people I would call enthusiasts. I was the third Bronco in our little town. I did see a Cactus grey base 2Dr roll by the other day. For some unkow reason I was excited like hell yeah haven’t seen that one in town yet 🤣🤣
We also used to camp a lot and in general I like taking to people I guess. My wife would call and ask where the heck are you? I’d be like two rows over talking to this guy about his superduty or fishing or whatever lol.

Saw an Eruption Green Bronco, so I caught up at a stop light. Rolled down my window, yelled "Nice!" Woman, 40s? Mouthed to me, "Pssh whatever" Drove away.

Not being a creeper, there aren't many of these. WTF is that? I'm just stoked when I see another one. Assumed mall crawler over MSRP.
I meant more not being enthusiastic about having a Bronco vs. being a hard core Bronco fan. Poor wording.

Either way, it's been established that I'm a dumbass. I definitely will not roll down my window going forward. A simple wave will suffice. I just get very excited to finally see others. Some people don't want to be bothered.
No one is saying you shouldn’t be nice. I think everyone will agree that maybe it should be more thought out.

Next time you see a Bronco, pull up and scream the following…
TAKE YOUR TOP OFF!!!

Also, make sure you’ve got your camera on and pointed in the appropriate direction.

Keep reaching out. If the driver is a "car guy" (or girl), they will generally want to talk. Car guys like talking about cars.

In terms of waves, if I'm in one of my old 4x4s, I give a wave/thumbs up to any other old 4x4 crossing my path. Scouts, CJs, FJ40s, etc. Always get an acknowledgment back. Because turning a wrench and keeping an older 4x4 on the road - there is that shared culture and acknowledgment. And that generally cuts across all makes.

I don't wave at new Jeeps though, unless waving back. There are just too many and not necessarily that connection.

My interest was in a 28k base manual 2-door Bronco. Figured with adding 33"s, it could have been a fun new off-road vehicle for top-down adventures.

But the situation has attracted a big spending crowd. I still like the Bronco vehicle, but the overall scene around it, has become kind of a turn-off.

Only local owner I know, is some rich guy with two Broncos, who doesn't even off-road. I wouldn't care much, except with a limited supply, those kind of customers will have a leg up.
If ever I have seen/heard/read the epitome of the "sour grapes theory", this is it.
You let them win, the only one who loses out is you.

Just because the good folks at the local Corvette/Mustang/BMW Club are pretentious assholes doesn't make me not want one.

There are cool people that own them also, that's who I hope to meet.

Honestly, if the other Bronco owners are turning their nose up at me, it truely is their loss. The folks I have met out on the trail or around the campfire with my 69 Bronco are among the funnest, coolest people I've had the pleasure of meeting.

Well, I already won. I've owned open top 4x4s for years, and have been off-roading and meeting the cool people you mentioned on the trails, including EB owners.

And I'm not not getting a Bronco because of who's getting them. Rather, I'm not getting a Bronco because it's not available. The scene right now caters to big spenders, and I don't care for that scene, I'm not paying ADM or jumping through those hoops.

I'll jump on a base 2-door manual down the road - if at a reasonable price. I mean, with all this money getting thrown around, Ford already raised the price 2k. I won't care if some dude has four Broncos for his family grocery store trips - once anyone else can easily get a Bronco.

Agree down the road, there will be plenty of new Bronco owners off-roading, I look forward to seeing them on the trails, and it will be great. It's just unfortunate the initial burn through is getting dragged out so long.
