Hi Everybody!
I have a 22 Bronco -2Door- Big Bend- 2.3 w/ MT88 - 42K miles
The only issues I've had are the Hardtop cracking and the transmission 5/6th gear syncros rattling in the cold issue ..or (TSB 22-2371)
I searched Bronco6G forums and doom scrolled the Facebook group pages and found nothing similar before asking.
For the last 2 months I've had a vibration on acceleration only. I drive about 4500 miles total from WV to parts of Colorado and Utah. On the way back it developed a vibration along with a light "rurl" noise (not the exhaust) when accelerating hard into first or on an incline fast or slow. Seemed to be coming from the drivers side.
After the trip I took it to get the oil changed and have the issue looked at and was told the noise & vibration issue could not be replicated. About a month later in late July this year I took it back for the dealer after the issue was vibrating and noise was louder on and off. I was told they could find anything and they had me take a ride along with a mechanic. He told me it was "normal noise and vibration, that trucks do that." I mentally called BS and I looked some more and myself and still couldn't find anything.
Saturday, I was driving and hit a freshly intentionally dug pothole - scraped 3x3-ish section for road repair. After impact, I could feel hear a "rurling" noise a vibrations all the time now as I accelerate, but seems to stop when I take the foot off the gas. I stopped looked under the vehicle nothing seemed to be hanging off or broken. When I restarted the vehicle It almost sounded like the starter was going bad. Yesterday, I got the chance to look under the truck again with the skid plate off and could not find anything obvious again, but the engine does seem to be at an angle and practically setting on top of the front gearbox (I don't know if that's normal). I did have the same loud "rurling" noise and vibrations on start up and and when revving almost sounds like and exhaust pipe vibrating, but was hard to tell underneath because the motor is loud and ticky, but from inside the vehicle it's more obvious. I have videos but can't really tell, it sounds like an aftermarket exhaust was installed if anything.
So questions:
-Is the 2.3 Eco normally at an angle? I don't remember, but found a couple pics as of Today and I'm thinking motor mount.
-Would a pothole be enough cause a motor mount or other mount to break that causes the exhaust to shake and vibrate?
-Is the motor suppose to setting on the front diff?
Any thoughts or assistance is appreciated!! Pics below
