Keep in mind the adhesive tape on the inside will be removed and the letters will be attached with epoxy so that the light coming through does not show dark spots. I have Bronco in NC Blue is One , OBX NC in Blue Red Blue is Two , and OBX NC in White Red Blue is Three. Which do you prefer? I'm leaning to the OBX NC in White Red Blue but I may have to put a dimmer in line with the O and B and dim them to the same Lumens as the Blue letters to get it to look right.

You are asking for feedback so I will give it, otherwise I normally keep my opinions on such things to myself.

The effect is not for me, but hey you do you. I do applaud the creativity and engineering to make this work. It is unique and cool that way.

The one thing I really wanted to say is that I would be concerned about attracting attention from law enforcement, if you are thinking is that these would be displayed and blinking while driving, especially the red and blue. It could be considered legitimately distracting to oncoming traffic, and I am pretty sure blinking/flashing lights of blue/red color are legally reserved exclusively for emergency vehicles. Just something to consider.

Yeah I thought of that as well , however , these would come on at start up and they would be constant on after the cycle which only last 15 or so seconds.

You might want to check the legality of blue lights bring displayed on the front of the vehicle in your State.

I looked online , it specifically says blue lights , these are white lights with a light blue cover which may be still iffy but it would be a very flat faint blue. I talked to a local law enforcement , he said as long as they are not flashing or very bright and a blue led on clear lens , it would be ok but that they could still stop me for it at there discretion ,which if they do , I can just cut the wire real quick and disable them till I just do all white.

Hmmm.... maybe for a particular occasion, (group bronco gathering - show, parade, etc..). What we / I need is a red "R" that is fully lit for when my engine upgrades are done.

I haven't found Red lighted letters yet but just want an "R" or maybe an R with LEDs that i can select between red or white. Others may want all of the color spectrum... Just a thought.

You can get that , the R in what I bought is goofy looking. Looks like an A. However , you can get plastic covers that are Red , then fill them halfway with epoxy , and set the lighted letters inside of that , and you can make that R look like a real R and it will be red. Cant change it but at least the desired effect is there.

Option 1...

Looks nice in blue.

And how would you space out the 5 letters if the spacing is for 6?

Well the OBX and NC would be understood to not be the same spacing between the X and the N. SO the space to the right of the camera looking at the front would be omitted. I can just fill in the screw holes with a glossy type silicone or just leave it as is. My grill is a glossy black.

I'll be short on this , get the lights , they are good quality. Now on the R overlay letter , they give you this two sides stickie crap , its horrible and will show little dark lines behind the letter and I do not think it will stick well to the lighted letter. Here is what you do , get some epoxy , not five minute crap , clear quality epoxy. Take needle nose pliers or your fingers and get all those sticky lines removed on your red R without damaging it. Then take the cover and lay it down backside up. Make small barely visible hash marks on the inside of the letter ( backside ) with a razor knife. Fifteen to twenty will do. You do not have to cut deep into it , just barely visible or feelable hash marks. If you can rub your finger inside it and feel them that is good enough. What this does is supplies more surface area and edges for the epoxy to hold on too so you get a permanent adhesion. Now , take the epoxy , mix it together , if it takes 24 hours to cure that is good. Now carefully fill the plastic red R about halfway up. Next you need to take a heat gun if you have it and lightly move it across the epoxy. This will remove any air bubbles at the surface , if you see air bubbles deep , then just wait till they get to the surface and do it again till you have clear epoxy top to bottom. Then take the lighted R and put that inside the plastic red R with the epoxy in it. Do it slowly and at a slight angle so you do not trap any air bubbles between the face of the Lighted R and the backside of the plastic R. Once its laying flat , look overtop it and make sure its centered. Then just wait till it cures completely. Once cured it should be permanently on and no bubbles and looks professional.

Thanks for the deep dive into it. Going to check out the R that I have. Agree, some do look like an A. I'm thinking it can shape the R's edges for a more defined look. Do you think 1 LED will be enough. Also, thinking I'll do half fill on epoxy, install LED then fill in the rest with epoxy. Or just put the LED on the back....

If you are using the existing letters with the red covers and doing your own light behind it. You will have to dremel out the center of the white R , then epoxy the red R over it. Once thats cured. Then you could add a LED or two. If you wanted to do your idea of say have a switchable color from white to red or off. You could put red and white leds in it. Probably two of each would be enough. With about a 5 inch positive and negative leads coming out for both the white and the red. Then you would need a 3 way switch. They call it a SPDT switch I think. Single Pole Double Throw. Which should have a ON OFF ON. Tie the hot from the white to one side of the switch , hot from red to other side , then ground it , I would use 16 gauge or 18 gauge is fine for a wire selection. LEDs do not draw anything. Then add a 3 AMP fuse on each hot side to your fuse box and run the switch inside the cab and place it hidden. Then you just reach down , hit it for red , or white or off.

the kit comes with leds in the letters already , the red letters are just added on top and are a separate purchase. The R that comes with white leds already inside it , the housing is shaped correctly , its the transparent part ,that is not, that allows the light to shine through it. I doubt there is anything that can change that because the black portion is also part of the translucent portion , so no real way to change it. However once you take the plastic letter and epoxy that on it. the white should be bright enough to penetrate to the edges of the red R. It will look off up close but from a distance , probably not noticed.
