Need some guidance on a 2024 order

Decided to swap out my 20 Mustang GT for a Bronco but am kind of confused with what I want.

Originally, I was hoping to have a 2 door OBX with a hard top but it doesn’t seem that exists anymore. There is a 4 door soft top OBX locally, but everything I’m reading says to avoid the soft top and instead buy a hard top and buy a soft top aftermarket if need be.

I’m between a Big Bend or black diamond 2 door hardtop in Green. I’d definitely add the mid package to both. My dealer is claiming the big bend and black diamond with mid package will be “exactly the same aside from some off road things” but couldn’t really explain. What are the major differences ?

It also seems like both of those come with the “marine grade vinyl” which I’m wondering whether or not it’ll be sweaty on hot days. I currently have perforated cooled leather in my Mustang which keeps me dry. Our Maverick has the vinyl and it turns into a sweaty mess in the summer.

Would you go for the big bend or black diamond with mid package ? I do live in the Midwest, so I’m wondering if black diamond is worth it for snow

Primarily commuting / driving around town. We do some occasional camping / hiking. My main attraction to OBX were the creature comforts and the high package.

I bought a 2023 Badlands with the high package. It's like a Cadillac compared with my 2002 WRX Subaru. It rides better and is quieter other than a bit of wind noise on the freeway. I'm in Phoenix. The marine grade vinyl isn't a problem (for me). It can be hot when you first sit on it, but cools off fast. MGV is a different kind of vinyl than what's in your Maverick.

Your dealer is either lazy or doesn't know their product. I'd look for a dealer/salesman who knows their product and is interested in helping their customer.

The following information is for 2024 Broncos. 2022 and 2023 will be a little different.
They are not “exactly the same aside from some off road things." Depending on engine and transmission choices the Badlands has the following features the Big Bend doesn't.
Locking rear axle standard. It's an option for the Big Bend if you get the Sasquatch package.
2.7 L engine is an option for Badlands. Not available for Big Bend.
Powder coated steel front bumper.
Painted hard top is an option.
Bash plates, both front section and full underbody. Not available for Big Bend.
LED Signature lighting is an option. Not available for Big Bend.
Rubberized flooring, washout capable with drain plugs.
MOLLE panel (driver and front passenger seatback)
Hardtop sound deadening headliner as an option. Not available for Big Bend. (personal note, very well worth while)
Prewired auiliary switches located in overhead console with front map lights.

The following link may not work. But the dealer could have gone here to answer your questions. He's either too lazy or too dumb to do it.

I own a '21 BD. On summer days with the top off (or just the windows down) the back of my shirt is soaked after a half hour drive. That's probably the only thing I'd do differently if I were ordering again.

If you get the BB, optioning the rear locker for $800 is a no-brainer. The BD has slighter better gearing in the auto, if you ever were to go up in tire size, that's why I asked.

Well, if you are going to order a 2dr, you are getting a hard top.... that's the only way they build them.
The 2dr OBX is no longer an option though.

Then apparently you jump to on lot new or used 4dr vehicles, hence the soft top discussion.

I have no issues with the factory hard top on my 2dr.
I also had a 4dr softie for 9 months. The factory soft top is a higher quality top than the available aftermarket soft top, ....... yes , even the Bestop, who makes the OEM top, their aftermarket version IS NOT THE SAME, it is not as sturdy, both frame and material.
Now, you might be able to score a USED (as opposed to aftermarket -- words matter) factory soft top for a good price, but I'd check the local market and compare to what Ford is charging for the new one if you order it that way.

If you order a 4dr, I highly advise getting the dual top option.

FWIW, here in Northern Indiana, the softy was perfectly fine through winter. The heat/AC in these things kicks ass, though many here would have you believe the kids will bake or freeze in the back seats due to the lack of rear vents .... by and large, that has not been the case, even for our friends in the desert southwest region. If I were to choose just one top on the 4dr, it would be the softy.

I enjoyed the hell out of the soft top, VERY convenient considering the high chances of pop up showers on any given summer day here by the big lake.
So much so, if they ever make a good 2dr soft top that folds all the way back, I'll probably jump into that. It beats the hell out of pulling the hard top every time.... just flip fold , done. On or off ....

I think the factory soft top is great. I'm not sure why people don't like it. It's fully functional and easy to move around. As far as hard tops go, I didn't get one...why? Who wants to fiddle around with changing them and storing the panels?

Then again, mine stays in a garage unless being used to winter weather outside will not be an issue...

Marine grade vinyl is great. I chose it over the leather. It'll hold up just as well, if not longer. No issues with sweating. If you were to have black leather or MGV, you'd sweat in either.

All them are more than capable in the snow. Whether you have 33 inch or 35 inch tires, you'll be fine.

The BD has larger, better looking tires, aux switches, metal bumpers, skid plates,. Both have the mgv seats-yes they’re hot in warm muggy climates. BD all the way. Better value.

I keep vehicles a long time. Plus I'm in Phoenix (sun). The hard top will last longer. I'll probably never remove any of the panels so no need to store them. And I wanted a roof rack.

My upholsterer says vinyl lasts longer than leather in Phoenix. I haven't found MGV to be a problem from heat.

I've got a 22 BD with the soft top and MGV seats. NOOOOO complaints! Are you kidding me? This is the most fun I've ever had with a vehicle. And I'm in the western burbs of Chicago. Yes, you want to prepare for snow....and dropping that top in the summer? So glad the hard tops were crap when I first ordered and switched over. I don't see anyone taking their hard tops off...
