Hey there, Summit County local here! As others have stated, the yellow/amber lights are the most effective at cutting through snowy nights. My dad went with the SS3 from Diode and is throughly impressed. My cousin rocks the Rough country kit which was incredibly cost effective for the money. Either way one of the most important components is a quality, snow rated tire. Look for snow specific tires or 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake tires, studded is nice, but not as important as it used to be.

Is there a difference between “yellow” and “amber” lighting in snow conditions? Is one better than another?

Amber is more effective than yellow at cutting through snow, but being a shorter wavelength will results in less overall light coverage and looking more monochromatic resulting in less depth.
