I plan to use the space under the hood that is normally used for a compressor for something else. I have found a place inside the frame below the passenger seat area that looks like a good area for an air compressor. I have seen air compressor mounted under vehicles before that seem to work well. I am pretty sure ARB compressors are rated as water resistant and the area I am talking about is pretty protected. Water crossing is the only thing I can think off that may be an issue. It would not be used other than airing up tires so it may stand up to a brief submersion.

Is there anything I should be concerned about in mounting in this location.

The stock air intakes on the twin cylinder have what I would call a ceramic disc as air filter material. If air goes through it, I assume water would also. I suppose you could plumb the intakes to a dry location. But personally I wouldn’t mount one where it can go under water or has poor ventilation. They get hot as hell. MIne’s under the hood.

This under the vehicle location would be much cooler than under the hood. I was planning to relocate the filter to a remote dry location. Maybe under the hood.

Mine is tucked up next to the gas tank with no issues, it barely gets wet there and there is plenty of ventilation. Intakes routed to interior space under passenger floor, coupling hose run to an footthold in rear JCR bumper. Every couple of weeks I spray the road dirt off with a hose. Stiil, eventually I will move it to the DV8 floor cargo box I just bought for ease of access if there is any issue with it.

That looks like a good place too. I have seen online that other people have mounted under the vehicle with good results. I am going to give it a try too. I will probably go with the ARB single for size and simplicity. I am usually in no rush to air up.

How do you say you would not mount yours somewhere with poor ventilation because they get hot but then proceed to say Mine's under the hood? 😂

Next time you’re using yours to air up two vehicles consecutively, after the second vehicle is done, grab onto the quick release coupling of the fasterflate with your bare hands. Let me know how that feels.

I have a ZR2 with a dual compressor mounted under the hood right under the radiator tank. I know the coupler gets extremely hot. I usually release the remaining air in the hose and blow it on the coupler to start cooling it down. Letting it sit for a few minutes usually is enough to cool it down and grab the coupler.

But this is exactly why I am laughing at your comment where you say you would NOT mount yours where it gets hot then proceed to say yours is installed where it gets hot.

Have you looked at any of the tailgate compressor options? I installed one from IAGOffroad.com that came with everything you needed. It mounts inside the tailgate with a small air tank behind the spare tire.

That is a nice system with the VIAir compressor single. I have the AAL mount with an ARB single in the tailgate as well. I think though that people want to go with the dual compressors, so both of our options are out. AGS has a system that allows the dual system behind the tire mount. As mentioned the DV8 tray allows the dual system, and it's a nice setup.

I use a molle panel mount option from @Mountains2Metal . The compressor fits nicely between the roll cage and the window , using otherwise unused space and the switch/chuck are easy to get to

I have considered that. I just don't like how much dust builds up back there. The air flow past vehicle creates a lower pressure zone in the rear which makes a lot of dust move in there. I know there is a lot of dust under the vehicle also but the air flow should help to keep dust from building up a lot there. So far that spot under the vehicle seems like the best option for me.

I have always used a portable air compressor, so mounting an air compressor is new for me. I have travelled with friends that have mounted compressors and have picked up ideas from them. I will probably still carry a small potable as a back up.

Have you looked at the DV8 storage compartment option? It works great! My install was a bit more involved, but the picture album should give you an idea.

Yes I have. Unfortunately, that area is already reserved for other storage. I am used to exploring with a Supercab Ranger with a 6ft bed. I must down size with the Bronco and rethink how I pack. Storage space is going to be at a premium for me now. I also don't want to have stuff hanging outside my vehicle.
