We are thinking of this for our Starlink. Gotta make sure the role bar won’t be in the way when the tray is flipped up. Great idea regardless.
This is exactly what I use mine for and it seems to work well.

The installer for my Armadillo top found that this shelf interferes with the top to the point where they can't both be installed as-is. They had to modify the shelf to make it fit: Post. The modified shelf works well, though.

did you put your starlink in a case or power with a battery/plug in? I was thinking of doing that as well but putting it in a case to protect it from rattling around. Also maybe the magnets to secure it up ther. Thoughts?

I put the antenna in a Revolink mount with 4 magnetic feet to hold it in place. I’ll only use it on the go or once I set camp, so I power it with the OEM inverter plug in the back of the center console. At camp, I use a jackery with a USB C adapter cable. I’ve considered using a battery to direct power it, but haven’t used one yet.

I don’t seem to get any power from the plug in the back of the center console. I’ll double check it when I return home.

I believe I have figured things out. Time will tell... The rattle was solved with nylon washers at the pivot and a combination of heat shrink and slightly thicker nylon washers at the release. I had a squeak that was driving me nuts that turned out to be at the release. I solved that by retightening the mechanism bolts and lightening the load in the shelf. I used to keep my recovery strap and shackles up there (40 lbs?) and now have only lighter things (extra clothing, ground cloths, etc) there.
