I have a Moab trip that me and a few guys are running this fall and I am looking for some feedback on guys that have went in the past. I've never wheeled on that out there so any help would be great.

I have a 2023 Bronco base sasquatch.. so I have the 2.3L

Currently running

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T in stock size for the sasquatch
Bronc Buster braces
Ford performance tune
Intake and exhaust
Aftermarket front and rear bumpers with a winch

Looking for some help on best tire to run out there in those conditions, also is it worth bumping to 37's? (I know going 37's I need to upgrade to the Hoss 3.0 steering rack)

I am also swapping out the stock suspension... I have been eyeing radflo, king, and fox all with adjustable compression.

Thanks in advance for the advice and knowledge!

Hard to beat the Mickeys in my opinion. As long as they have good tread depth.

As far as going up to 37's - really up to what kind of trails you and your friends are looking at. For the most part - no, you won't need it, but it can make runs easier and open up a handful of the more difficult trails. 37s opens up a bit of a rabbit hole though to make them fit well, I think you are aware of that though.

Same with suspension really.

Stock SAS can run an awful lot out at Moab.

So plan is to hit

Moab Rim
Cliffhanger
behind the rocks
Poison Spider
Golden Spike
Gold bar rim
Rusty Nail
Pritchett

37's seem to make everything easier but like you said not necessary. I was planning on sticking with Mickey's or toyo o/c R/T trails. Little bit less aggressive but could still work fine out there I assume.

As far as suspension only main reason I'm switching is the recall on the stock suspension and one one of my rears is already leaking lol

All depends on how deep you are willing to go in terms of modifications.

My recommendations for phase one Moab prep.

Tires: swap out the OEM, step up to a true to size 35 RT style tire. I strongly recommend the Kenda Klever RT for Moab + the highway miles to get there and back. Depends where you live and how you drive but in general I’d would avoid MT’s, they’re terrible for “on pavement” snow.

Suspension: I’d run what you have for now, proper 35’s should fit but do your homework on wheel offset.

Suspension If you “want” a lift or “need” additional weight support then there are many options for adjustable coilovers, but the rabbit hole is deep and $$. As a recovering “expensive suspension guy” I’ve been happy with my Eibach Pro Truck 2 HD kit. The Eibach’s are very affordable and can be adjusted on the vehicle vs any aluminum shock body coils that need to be pulled out for ride height adjustments and do not need an annual rebuild. (I’m done with aluminum shock body coils, too much work to adjust). If the Eibach’s only last two years they are cheap enough I’ll just buy another set. UCA’s are recommended if you swap out the suspension but the OEM’s are very good.

tie rods: upgraded tie rods are a good choice, or at least bring a spare.

Armor: ditch the OEM rock rails and upgrade to a frame mounted slider. Many options are available. I have RCI sliders, they’re bomber.

The rest I would run as is. If you “earn” a new bumper along the way then it’s time to upgrade.

long term: weight is the enemy, this is where some of us paint ourselves into corners. So do your homework and plan long term for upgrading. Example being don’t add new steel bumpers, winch, steel belly skids, sliders, etc and expect the OEM suspension or even aftermarket suspension can handle it. Oh, and forget RTT’s…they’re the worst, just get a ground tent. Less is more.

Good luck.

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T in stock size for the sasquatch
Bronc Buster braces Remove these and get spare tierods. The braces could still be useful if someone breaks cleanly, but that's not often the case. You want the tierods to break in the event you're putting excessive forces on the steering components. This will save your steering rack, or at least extend it's life. Tierods are much easier to change on the trail than steering racks.
Ford performance tune
Intake and exhaust
Aftermarket front and rear bumpers with a winch

I am also swapping out the stock suspension... I have been eyeing radflo, king, and fox all with adjustable compression. Rock Krawler seems to be a lesser known brand when it comes to coilovers, but their stuff is great. 2.625" bodies and 1" shafts with the most amount of travel possible using the oem mounting locations. (I think ADS is comparable in travel) The customer service is phenomenal.

Thanks in advance for the advice and knowledge!

Added some remarks above. Pritchett is no joke and absolutely much worse in person than it looks on camera. Plan on a very long day. Would definitely recommend upgraded sliders. Ford did a good job engineering the body mounts for the sliders and it is my opinion that frame mounted is unnecessary. Next Venture Motorsports sliders will handle absolutely anything you'll encounter.

Thank you very much, I was looking heavy into a true 35 R/T or 37 R/t for this trip. UCA's are on my list, with my stock suspension leaking already they will be changed before the trip. Iv'e heard great things about Eibach and are heavily considering these. Bumpers are alrady replaced and they are not super heavy, went with a lighter baja style recently for better approach angles etc...

I edited my post to include a remark on sliders. Happy to help with any other questions.

As far as tire size goes... I know this could be answered in probably a million ways, but do you think 37's are worth it for this trip? I know it will provide more ground clearance and should make more obstacles easier but what are your thoughts??

Really, all those trails can be done on the factory 34.4" Goodyear Wranglers that come with the sasquatch package. Pritchett will test you but it can be done. Sliders will be more important than 37's, in my opinion.
