Wow, rain might not be recommended for it…..

What I'm worried about is that they don't have any pictures of them or reviews
.....worried about dropping 6k without any feedback......and like you said where to even take it for any warranty issues...would suck to ship and back and forth....but seeing the mic issues makes me feel good about dropping it ...was able to get my build much faster as well

Well good luck getting that warrantied, because it just looks like someone dropped it on the ground and broke it. I'm not saying you did... I'm just saying that's what it looks like.
Yeah I can definitely see Ford claiming that was dropped.

You can see a little better here that the top layer just sperated and the core is 100% still intact.

There really is a 0% chance of that, if you saw it in person you would understand. I have no doubt they'll take care of it.

I was just reading the owners manual and the cleaning method is like your dealing with a piece of delicate electronic equipment.

Seems like basic, prudent guidance for any material that's not to be treated harshly. If the surfaces were sonically welded together it wouldn't be a problem, but my guess is that they used an organic binding agent and it can break down with exposure to alcohols or certain solvents.

Then somebody's going to slap some hydrophobic coating on it (It's got SILICONE, TAKE MY MONEY!) and get warranty denial.

OP from the looks of the enlarged pic the core and top layer appear to be devoid of any bonding adhesive material.
See if you can pump any info from Ford or as a long shot try the top manufacturer.
