For those of you using megafuses, where did you install the fuse holder in the engine bay? Looking for ideas as there are not a lot of surfaces that are less that 18" from the battery. Ideally I don't want to be just mounting them on top of the battery holder or factory fuse panel. Ive seen the AAL mount, and Id rather the fuse holder be mounted perpendicular vs flat.

Not sure what the mega fuse dimensions are, and I know you said you weren’t keen on mounting to the fuse box, but with a little bit of slack it doesn’t interfere with getting to the fuses at all. (I also wanted to avoid it but it turned out to be the best spot for me. Just used adhesion promotor after cleaning everything thoroughly. It’s holding nicely)

Top of the fuse box for me as well. Used a piece of backer board and some wing nuts so
I could get at the fuse box when needed.

That plastic board stuff would be great for this but I didn't have any at the time

What's the mini distribution block by the battery and the ground bus on the along the fender??

Was searching for something similar awhile back but couldn't find anything that fit with the Bronco. Ground bus is easy, lots of options, but the battery distribution block has been tricky to track down.

Here ya go! Fit nicely on that tray. Didn’t heat up at all while trying to work the winch

Oh, that’s the relay for the winches
Ohhhhhh, okay. My bad, I thought that was the main power line from the battery to the distribution block on the AAL bracket. But that's a line from the distribution block to the solenoid for the winch. Gotcha (y)

It’s even better now that I deleted that Auxiliary-switched hot wire coming out of the fusebox

No no-you were correct the first time. Power comes off the battery with a 90 degree terminal directly into the relay with another 90 degree terminal. From the relay it goes through the big honkin 500A class T fuse into the distribution block, then from there to both winches. Figure if we’re ever in a situation where we need to have both winches hooked up at the same time (doubtful) I don’t have the mental capacity to try running them both at the same time without pulling the bronco apart, so it’s not a big deal to have them both powered through the same fuse. Also built a jumper cable that can run from the battery to the fuse block to bypass the relay in the event it fails. That actually came in very handy at UBB as with the way everything is hooked up I can’t get the terminals to touch without disconnecting a bunch of stuff. Used the jumper to connect the terminals to discharge the capacitors and reset the system more quickly.

Ohhhh wait that's right! "Winches"... you have a winch mounted in the rear as well. Okay that explains the distribution block.

So that relay is basically the on/off for that entire distribution block, gotcha. Whew, time for more coffee. :coffee:

Yep! I’d still recommend the relay at a minimum even for those running one winch. Had a big power disconnect switch before that both winches were hooked to and while it made me feel better not having the wiring hot all the time, it’s hard to get to when the front tire is six feet in the air. Relay is much easier.
