Leave it to Ca. to find one more way to double tax on everything. Luckily NJ doesn't do that on trade ins. Though they find other ways to double and triple tax us as well.

What do you mean, double tax? You're getting taxed on the taxes you've paid on every vehicle you've ever bought in CA because it just keeps adding up. Getting out of there was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Agreed. For resale you don't want to be the most expensive house on the block. And people buying used rather than new, are generally doing that to save money. So coming in on the high end will be a tougher sell.

I bought my base Bronco for $28k. Carvana's latest valuation is $33k. Although for me that doesn't matter much, as we are enjoying the Bronco too much to sell.

Really depends on vehicles and trims. Stripper vehicles are the hardest to sell because lack of options which most buyers are pampered for.

Try selling to Carvana. I had a great experience with them selling a Bronco Sport - they gave me a significantly higher offer than my dealer, and their process is simple.

Great time to be a buyer. The way I see it (JMHO), as a depreciating asset I buy and hold vehicles for life. I get people want something new every few years, but I feel the Bronco with its retro-modern look will be kind of timeless in its looks like a Wrangler. With a Wrangler, enthusiasts know the difference, but most people would not guess an older Wrangler is 12 years old. I keep two vehicles, and as a buy and hold type I'm buying a new one of them every 7-9 years. That's fine by me. For 4-5 years I always have a newer looking vehicle. Might start to look a bit dated the last few years, but a new one is right around the corner while I keep the aging one for 15 years or however long it lasts without too many repairs. I just happened to have timed it that in owning two cars for myself, they started out 8 years apart. That's works for me. Whatever works for other people. Do what makes you happy.

I have a '22 BD that cost me $39k and the interwebs is telling me it is now worth $38k. It seems the people getting hit hard are buying high end trims. With the cost of living and high interest rates that have hit, I can see people opting for lower priced trims these days. Will be interesting to see how many over 100 they sell of those Stroppe editions. Will they break 1,000?

Aftermarket accessories are worth exactly ZERO on a trade in, and may decrease value if not high quality, well executed or compromise the vehicle. You also have to take into consideration warranty and will it be voided by any aftermarket equipment. You have to sell privately if you're looking to recoup aftermarket accessories values and then it's iffy as the loan value on the vehicle will not support the perceived accessories value.

I have a '23 HPR 4dr Big Bend V6 Sas, I'd be pretty happy with 43k at trade. Carmax offered me 39k several months ago.

Yeah, again, isn't the Big Bend trim like $20k less than the Wildtrak? If I were you I'd be happy with that offer as well lol

Don't get me started on this either. It's an issue anywhere. Why am I paying tax for something I sell on ebay that I already paid tax on when I bought it?

It took 19 months for me to get my Bronco. The same dealership now has 60 Broncos on the lot.

Yeah, that's why I pulled my reservation back in 2020. I only ordered one car in my life, that was back in 1976. The 12 week wait almost killed me, there was no way I was going to wait over a year. In retrospect, waiting until last month saved me thousands.

Hey everyone, wanted to share my experience here in case it helps anyone. Purchaed a '23 Hot Pepper Red Bronco at invoice price last October (roughly 62k). I added about 15k in accessories (paint protection, leveling kit etc), and it has 10k miles on it.

Took a shot in the dark and ordered a new '24 Wildtrak with the painted top. Dealer offered me 43k for mine (Bluebook shows a range of 53k to 60k). Dealer is only offering me 43k for it, and in getting other offers the best I've gotten is 45k. I';m told this is because the market is flooded with Broncos.

Is this consistent with anyone else's experience?

You’ll never get a good deal at a dealership. Private sale will get you best return

That might be possible, if the assumption is that I did major suspension work. I only added the kit to level it, the more expensive Fox shocks are still there and still in the sweet zone. Should I just have ignored that question? I answered it the same way in the Blue Book valuation.

Anyone who purchases your Bronco and plans to carry gear will most likely not appreciate the leveling kit, the rake is there for a reason! lol

Yeah, I'm thinking it obviously makes more sense to hang onto this one. The bigger refresh is said to be coming next year and if there is a Hybrid version I might just order one of those. And if there's a new Antimatter Blue version I'll def. order that!

Since I've already owned two Wildtraks I just had it in my mind that it'd be nice to have one of the last Wildtraks off the line and to hang on to it.

I doubt that is going to increase the value

Buying a vehicle and trading it in a year or two later is one of the most financially irresponsible things you can do. You're just eating the steepest part of the depreciation curve possible. It honestly blows my mind that people actually do this. I got my bronco in 2021 for MSRP and I hated paying sticker with no discount. I don't anticipate the SUV leaving my garage anytime before 2028 and as long as it keeps going like a champ it will likely stay there for much longer without being traded in.
