Looking for a QUIET 285/75/17 tire

I do a lot of highway driving and pretty much ZERO off-road work
Looking for the quietest 285/75/17 tire I can find - your thoughts ??

Are you set on the 17" wheel? Because there are plenty of OBX takeoffs that can be had for a fraction of the cost.

That's gonna be a tough size to find a quiet A/S tire.

For an A/T, I would look at a Falken Wildpeak A/T4W.

Of the AT tires I've ran, Falkens have been the tamest for road noise for the longest. They all will start to get loud as they wear, and most all are pretty quiet when new. Falkens seem to wear the best / last the longest of what I've had on vehicles (which, admittedly, is a small sample size)

Agree, lots better choices if I step down to a 285/70/17

If you get some 18" take off wheels for super cheap there are lots of take off cheap incl Michelin LTX Trail that looks the part from the side but are like AS. Pirelli has a similar side lugged tire with AS tread.

Possible Pirelli make in 17 as well.

I love the A/T3's on my Maverick, but the A/T3's have been discontinued for the A/T4's, which are heavier, more terrain focused, but still a solid A/T tire.

I didn’t hear a peep out of my Toyo AT3 until they had about 40k on them. Now there is a little noise really only noticeable when coming to a stop. IMO they’re the nicest AT available. Would have gotten 60k on them too.

Our last batch of Falken AT3W for our Ranger only got 40k on them before needing to be replaced. Perhaps I had a bad batch. I got some warranty money back and 20% off our next set. We’ll see if the AT4W do any better. I need to check if MPG took a hit.

Must be 17" - Not concerned with cost

If I wasn't going offroad and just pounding the pavement, I would avail myself of the most plentiful option for the cost. A hub centric wheel, mounted/balanced AT tire including TPMS for a few hundred bucks. You could toss them every year and replace for another set before being concerned about tread wear and increased noise.

The Nexen ATX is a great tire in all conditions, the Yokohama G015 is the gold standard in all season highway tires and I hate to recommend them, but the Cooper AT3 are cheap and quiet, lot of guys I work with run them on they’re trucks and swear by them.

I wouldn’t air any of them down, but they’d fit your bill?…

Edit! The Falken Rubitrek?! Only heard great things online, worth a look though?!

I've never seen them for "free". But one can get a set for less than $100/wheel.

While most dislike the pedestrian look of them, the Bridgestone Dueler is a fine tire. One can buy a set and find another set every year.

I just installed Toyo Open Country AT's in that size. Six ply C rated. I could not be happier with them. Ride, noise, great flex when aired down, no poke, no rubbing with stock wheels. Perfect size for my non sas badlands. Get em!

Can you expand on why you hate recommending the Cooper AT3's?

I've been considering the Yokohama's you mention as well as the Cooper's.
