That is a very good point.
On the other hand, taking that into account, second hand sales, people should be upfront about the tune being installed, especially if they don't have the means to reinstall the original as-built (like lose the installer; could Ford service do it in that case?). Interesting, hadn't really thought about that aspect.

I will probably keep it for at least 15 years my F150 replaced my 2001 F350 and this Bronco will replace my wife’s 2005 Honda odyssey. The Badlands pretty much has a lot of gadgets so that’s a risk and yes the 2.3 has less gadgets than the 2.7 that’s why I am trying to figure out if the 2.3 is for us. I believe it is more powerful than the Jeep 4cyl trubo
If you're going from a Honda Odyssey to a Bronco the 2.3 auto in a 4-door Badlands will get you to 60mph 1.3 seconds faster. Badlands non-Sas auto will come with 4.46 gears which is better than any other trim that isn't a Sasquatch (which I get the feeling you won't be buying). My 2.3 manual Badlands feels like a race truck to me, but that's because I drove V6 Toyota trucks and 4Runners before that.

My unpopular opinion is the 2.7 is the most overrated optional feature on the Bronco by far. And you typically see it with people on forums like these. The 2.7 has almost unnoticeable performance increase when compared to the 2.3. People will always say "if you get the auto, get the 2.7" But it's merely because people only look at a number 7 and think "bigger number=good" and it's really a placebo effect on the people who buy it. I bet if you badged a 2.3 engine with a 2.7 people may not even notice the difference. But ya know what's also big? the price tag! Over $2000 more for the 2.7. I test drove both engine options and found the 2.7 (while good on paper) wasn't worth the extra cash. I opted for the 2.3 and I'm very happy, and it's much more powerful and sportier than my Tacoma 3.5 V6. And I have 4 door badlands Sasquatch. Either way you'll be fine and happy. They both get up and go and they both perform well in extreme off road settings.

Hi all,
I am looking for 2.3 owners input that have the Sasquatch package and 10 speed automatic. I am trying to decide on the 2.3 vs 2.7 and would like to hear what owners have to say about the power of the 2.3 using 87 octane. I am looking at a 4dr Badlands and wonder how the 2.3 performs as a daily driver and light off road use. Reliability vs the 2.7.
Thanks for your input.
Steve
The wife and were in the same boat. We drove both, and not due to power so much as sound, we ended up with the WildTrak with 2.7, and Sasquatch package. It is my wife’s daily driver here in MT, and she loves it!

I have a 23 2dr 2.3 BL Sas High package. Basically the nicest 2.3 performance wise. My neighbor, after I got my Bronco, got a 23 2dr WT. Of course I've driven it a few times (he insisted) and it is hands down a more performant engine plus brake upgrade. The two turbos do make a difference in butt feel, at least, and it's quicker. There's also the supposed resale bump, but I'm frankly not sold that's a big deal at all. And yeah, it does sound a little better (2.3 is a sewing machine, but I don't care... that much 😁 ).

Having said that, I tend to agree that the average shmoe ain't missing much (and won't), and the only ones who NEED a 2.7 are the turbo/engine hackers. Yeah, you can upgrade the 2.3 engine (eventually they'll break the ECM encryption), but the 2.7 is a better platform for that kinda stuff.

It does start to feel like splitting hairs if you drive both and go meh, what's the diff?

So should the average consumer go 2.7? Maybe. FOMO is a thing. But I think a lot of the back and forth is own-teaming more than a need vs want discussion.

I have a 22 4dr Badsquatch 2.3 auto.
Compared to my 14 JK it's better in every way. I have also done the RC muffler delete. It now has a growl and sounds more like a rally car . I run mid grade gas , been getting almost 575 km a tank. With the muffler delete its hard to keep off the gass , it's too much fun. At almost 60000 k and the tires are suffering.

I have a BB with the Mid package auto. Mine also is the open diff so I have the 3.73 gears. I just put General Grabber ATX tires on it and the size is the same as the Sasquatch, 315/70/R17. It doesn't feel that slow to me, a little different in the very low end but when you get on the gas it still feels quick. I also came from a 2012 Acura TSX with the 2.4 and an auto, you really had to get that engine high in the rev range to feel quick so I may be a little different as I had a NA car compared to a turbo the Bronco has. If it feels quick to me though with what is considered the worse gears and heavier tires compared to the Sasquatch you should be fine, especially since you are coming from a Honda Odessey.

Locally lots are full of bronco Sasquatch’s. Go drive both the 2.3 and 2.7 , I did before buying and it was very clear , 2.3 only if you wanted a low performance bronco with manual , 2.7 hands down with the auto , 100 lbs of torque you don’t pass up on for the same fuel economy and the extra money you’ll recoup on resale .

If you're into DIY wrenching and maintenance down the line, the 2.3 is significantly simpler to wrench on. That was a big consideration for me. Mine has been dead reliable so far, and returns great highway MPG even on upsized tires.

If you are exclusively looking for an auto, definitely test drive a 2.7. I loved how smooth and torquey it was on the bottom end. When not in boost, the 2.3 can be a bit of a dog but sport mode fixes all of that.

Torque multiplication is done through gearing.
A torque converter uses a fluid coupling to transfer torque from the crankshaft to the automatic transmission. Also, a 10-speed transmission will be much more effective at keeping the engine running near the torque peak than a 6-speed transmission.

Absolutely NO ISSUES ! We have both 2dr and 4dr. First time pulling on to freeway I had to use brakes to slow down from 80ish to merge with traffic.
