I just picked up my 2022 Outer Banks. Maybe I’m being a bit too paranoid, but concerned the spare might grow legs. I don’t have any garage space so it’s outside. What are you using to secure your spare? I guess I msy have to buy a full set log locking lugs. Thanks

For time being you can cable lock it to the carrier

Fwiw, The locking lug nuts you can buy from ford for 90$ are mcgards.

It was the first thing i wanted installed too so i ordered Ford's when i ordered the bronco. Had i known they were the same thing i would of just got them from amazon. Good luck.

Lug nut torque on wheels is 100 ft/lb
Lug nut torque on spare carrier is 41 ft/lb

(You might be able to get a pack locking lug nuts from nearest auto store right now. I dunno)

I got the locking lugs from Ford Accessories--needed something to burn FordPass points on. You can't spend FordPass points on the website itself (which is stupid by the way), BUT if you order it from your dealer's parts counter you can pay for it with FordPass points.

They were branded as a Ford Parts product, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mcgard was the OEM. Definitely not bullet proof, but hopefully enough of a deterrent.

Just buy locking lug nuts. Better safe than sorry.

I did this with my OBX. Used Fordpass points also.
