I am attempting a ski trip to Vermont (from NY) this week for our family of 4 in our 2dr -just under 5 hours each way. I have the Yakima platform on top where I’m going to attach our skis on one side with a Thule roof box on the other side which will have all our bags. I borrowed a trailer hitch platform with a large storage box for ski boots and other equipment. Behind the rear seats will be backpacks, cooler and whatever else I can get in.

When all assembled it should look fairly ridiculous but everyone wants to take the Bronco so I’m going to make it work. Pics to follow Thurs.

I'm coming from a 1998 Land Cruiser built for overlanding, so pretty good sized rig, very mechanical, and 24 years old. I bought the 2 door Badsquatch 2.7 because my kids are in/about to be in college and wanted something more fun for me, so totally expected to have less space. I thought I'd share thoughts and a couple pics to help anyone on the fence about whether 2 or 4 doors is for them.

Some basic recovery gear for a quick blast up Coyote Butte (pronounced bYOUt, a volcanic cinder cone, I live in Central Oregon)

I knew it would be less storage, but had hoped the maxtrax would at least lay flat... nope! That's fine, will figure out a rack strategy for them and other stuff.

The back seats - very comfy for adults, very happy there. Getting into the back, not so much. Seat doesn't come very far forward so it is awkward to do. Oh, and at least on mine the front seats are tough to slide forward so it is a bit of shoving match to get them forward - going to grease the rails and see if it helps.

What makes it worse to get in are the lack of good grab handles up top. I get why that's tough with the Air Cushion but hoping an aftermarket solution comes out.

Turning radius - damn good! Best in the household fleet except maybe the daughter's Element.

2.7L & Sasquatch - *plenty* quick and torquey, but I REALLY want the Sport mode to help shift points and lag off the line (not offered on Badlands). Hoping/waiting for a Forscan remap of the Eco mode (which I can accomplish by just not using the go pedal : ) I've engaged traction control punching it on dry pavement while turning and can be up to freeway speed in nothing flat, so I'm not complaining and can live with as-is, just annoyed since I know it's just some different settings.

Any other pics/questions I can answer just holler!

I see a lot of complaints about lack of Sport Mode but you can put it into Manual and shift it yourself...

Seems like Ford should have borrowed the fold and tumble front seat idea from the Jeep playbook. Easy to get in and out of the rear of my '06 TJ, especially with the mounted side steps.

It really is a finicky but you are right, you really need to firmly and forcefully push the seat forward and down.

I'm actually going to delete the rear seats with the Goose Gear Stealth Sleep Package, I've got one on order with my local dealer. If we need more seats we can just use my wife's Bronco Sport.

I would make sure they fixed the issues on the goose gear before purchasing. Someone did a review on here and had a lot of issues with it.

Serious question: Cooler possibilities in cargo area

Could you put this cooler longitudinally behind the passenger rear seat or would there be interference and you would have to have the rear seat folded down?

The cargo depth measurements i've seen are all at the floor and not 15 7/8" above the floor.... Will 26 1/2" fit in the cargo area with the seat up? In only 1 of the recline positions or possibly fit in either back-rest position?

On my Bronco, High package, Badlands so marine interior, the rear seats do NOT recline as far as I can see. If other packages do I would love to know so I can maybe retrofit a recline onto them...?

My Engel 35 is about 14.5x25 @ 15H and *will* fit where the hump closes to, but that's all I think you'll get there:

I’ve been driving my 2 door Black Diamond since October 18th. Access to the back seat can definitely be tricky, especially if your Bronco is a Sasquatch or lifted. I removed the factory rock rails and installed the Ford step bars which make it much easier, with an additional lower surface to stand on when climbing inside. I also installed the Bartact grab handles for all 4 seats. They bolt right on in minutes and make climbing into the Bronco easier for both driver and passengers.

Sorry, asking for longitudinal orientation instead of lateral to the vehicle center line.

Ie: if you rotate your Engel 35 by 90 degrees, will she fit between the seatback and tailgate?

When the front passenger seat is slid fully forward, do you feel there is still room (if the sliding track allowed) for the seat to slide further forward, before hitting the dash? Based on your photo, it seems like there is room.

If a 2-door ever becomes available to me in my lifetime, I'd like to break out the welder and rig up a slider or tilt mechanism, allowing the passenger seat to move further forward. Seems like it could significantly improve access to the rear seat.

The photo was taken with the passenger seat ALL the way forward ;( so yes there is space (6-8" maybe??) there, just no travel in that track. I'm guessing passenger uses the same track as the driver side, which needs extra space for the steering wheel, but haven't really poked around under there to see if there are opportunities for improvement. If you do come up with a bracket plz let me know and I'll buy one from ya Oh, and might need a wire loom extension as well, not sure.

So at the end of the day, If an adult needs to get in back occasionally or is a kid, it works, but if you need regular use I'd suggest go 4 door...

Make sure to let everyone know how that goes assuming you do follow through. There was a poster that did a self install and it looked like there were a bunch of issues with the design, or at least the set he received.

At that 15" height there's only 15" door to seat on the left (hump side) and maybe 19-20" on the right (did not measure, guesstimating) so no way even close to rotating the cooler 90* unless you fold a seat down.
