Has anyone tried pushing the 2-ohm kicker with the factory 7-speaker sub amp? I put DS series Kickers in the dash, kick panel, and roll bar. I'm pretty happy with the upgrade there. I'm just looking to clean up the factory sub a wee bit without dumping a ton of $$$ or modification into it. I'm not a massive audiophile, just want a bit more poop.

Many have the Kicker 6.75 with the "factory" amp as a result of rectifying the sub-delete iterations by adding the "Fusion" amp and Kicker speaker to replace the non-functional delivered versions. There's been some discussion as to whether it's better to use the 4 ohm vs the 2 ohm speaker, though (I opted for the 4 ohm myself, but I'm not weighing in on whether it's "better"). Both the sub-speaker and amp combo have multiple discussion threads here, search is your friend.

My $0.02 is that while making the stock system work by replacing the non-functional dummy units with working units is a BIG upgrade I'm not so sure how MUCH of an upgrade the Kicker 6.75" sub-speaker over the stock unit is; I mean I've no doubt it's better but seems difficult to quantify. That said it's like only ~$100 or so for the sub so not going to kill most Bronco modder's budget.

Thanks, Karl. I just ordered the 2-Ohm off Amazon. I searched here but couldn't find anything concrete. What is the Fusion amp? Edit - I found it!

Pretty much anything will be an improvement over the crummy factory speaker.

The OEM amplifier has more than enough power to move the lighter cone and suspension on the OEM subwoofer compared to the much heavier cone and suspension on the Kicker CompRT subwoofer.

The CompRT needs 150W of clean power from an aftermarket amplifier to get any appreciable output from it. I'm sure it probably sounds ok with the OEM amplifier, but does it match the output of the factory components? Probably not, especially with the factory EQ disabled.

As usual, I'm probably in the minority here, but I would be looking to mate the OEM amplifier to an OEM subwoofer, although I do understand that the CompRT subwoofers are much easier to come by.

The factory non-B&O amp is 55Wx2 at 2Ohm

So 110W, compared to the 150W CompRT.

It's not too far off if you have the 2Ohm Kicker

You might get 110W at volume level 25, but at moderate listening volume, the OEM amplifier is probably delivering somewhere in the realm of 50-60W.

The OEM subwoofer will definitely produce more output than the CompRT in that range.

I replaced all the speakers with kickers. Upgraded the rear pods with Mabett pods and upgraded the sub with a 6.75 kicker sub, used factory amp. With a little treating in Forscan I think it's sufficient enough..

Did you use the 2 or 4 Ohm sub?

Update: I did the 2-ohm 6.75, and at first, I wasn't too impressed. I just turned off the EQ and put the aft speakers in full range (FORscan). One of them also woke up the sub; the whole system sounds great now!
